Special - Vaughan Arnell - Legendary Music Video Director (Part 1)

In the first of a special series of episodes, we’re delighted to welcome everyone’s favourite music video director, Vaughan Arnell, to Robbie Williams Rewind! Described by Robbie Williams’s own website as “a collaborator almost as central to Robbie’s story as Guy Chambers”, Vaughan has directed some of the most iconic music videos of Robbie’s career. His extraordinary CV also includes videos for the Spice Girls, George Michael, Terence Trent D’Arby, Jamiroquai, One Direction and many more. In this episode, Vaughan takes us right back to the beginning, recalling the first time he worked with Robbie when, alongside Anthea Benton, he directed Take That’s ‘Back For Good’. He shares his first impressions of Robbie, as well as some valuable lessons learnt from spending a music video shoot working with a lot of water! Vaughan then took the helm for ‘Angels’, immortalising Robbie in stunning black and white on the beach at Saunton Sands, before filming him amongst netball-playing girls in London’s Paternoster Square. Vaughan reveals what happened the night before the Devon shoot, when he and Rob were very nearly refused dinner at their hotel, and remembers the extraordinary reaction Robbie received in London while filming the kissing scene. Following the success of ‘Angels’, Vaughan directed ‘Let Me Entertain You’, bringing Robbie’s vision of becoming a member of KISS spectacularly to life — complete with leotard, make-up, a full rock ’n’ roll band, pole dancers and groupies. It was on the set of ‘Let Me Entertain You’ that Robbie first played Vaughan his new song ‘Millennium’ and announced that he wanted to be James Bond in the video. Vaughan helped turn that idea into reality in glorious Sean Connery style at Pinewood Studios — where he and Robbie even received a rather unexpected visitor while standing beside 007’s Aston Martin! The video went on to win Best British Video at the 1999 BRIT Awards. And then came perhaps Robbie’s most iconic video of all: ‘Rock DJ’. Voted the third greatest pop video of all time by the public in a 4Music poll in 2010, and winner of Best British Video at the 2001 BRIT Awards, its unforgettable concept became a defining moment in Robbie’s career. Vaughan tells us how the video was brought to life, including the unexpected challenge of discovering that some of his roller-skating models… couldn’t actually roller-skate! From rain-soaked Take That to Angels on the beach, Robbie as James Bond and the extraordinary creation of ‘Rock DJ’, this is a fascinating journey through some of the most memorable music videos in British pop history. We hope you’re as excited as we are to hear Vaughan’s stories on Robbie Williams Rewind! ====== **About Robbie Williams Rewind** Join husband and wife Matt and Lucy, as they rewind through legendary pop star Robbie Williams’ solo career.  Each episode, they have a guest fan to help us relive Robbie’s incredible music and tours. Special - The Making Of BRITPOP With Karl Brazil & Owen Parker

We’re VERY excited to welcome back two extra special guests to the podcast, musicians, writers and producers who have been absolutely instrumental in the making of BRITPOP: Karl Brazil and Owen Parker. Not only have Karl and Owen co-written nearly every track on the album with Robbie Williams, they also co-produced it alongside Martin Terefe, played on the recordings, and brought it to life on stage as part of Robbie’s live band. If you’re looking for the true inside track on his first non-Christmas album in nearly a decade, this is the interview. Karl and Owen take us deep into the creative process – how the songs came together, memories from the studio, and what these tracks really mean to them. They reveal the full story behind writing Cocky and 100% Beau with Gaz Coombes, and what it was like when Chris Martin wanted to play on Human. This is one of those rare conversations where you’re not just hearing about the album – you’re hearing it from the people who built it, note by note. Packed with behind-the-scenes stories, unexpected moments, and genuine insight into Robbie’s creative world, this is an episode for fans who want to go deeper. If you’ve been following our BRITPOP journey, this is the one that brings it all together – and trust us, you won’t want to miss it. EP52 - BRITPOP Album Part 2

In part 2 of our BRITPOP track-by-track deep dive, we welcome our first South American guests to Robbie Williams Rewind: Lorena from Argentina and Carolina from Chile (now living in Turkey). Together, we unpack the final five tracks from the standard edition: Human, Morrissey, You, It’s OK Until The Drugs Stop Working, and Pocket Rocket – sharing reactions, standout moments, and favourite lyrics from each. Lorena reflects on seeing Robbie live for the first time in 2006 and the 20-year wait that’s followed, including the heartbreak of his 2018 Argentina show being cancelled due to extreme weather. At the time of recording, she spoke for fans across the country in hoping the BRITPOP tour would finally bring him back… and now it has. Even better, she’s got her tickets. Carolina takes us right into the heart of the chaos at the Mucho Lucho TV recording in 2004, recalling the moment Robbie Williams walked off set. She also shares her full-circle journey as a fan, from seeing him live in Chile in 2006, through a 17-year wait to finally catch a XXV Tour show in Turkey, and on to the BRITPOP and Long 90s tours. Along the way, she reflects on the contrast between LATAM and European crowds, and what makes each experience so unforgettable. ====== **About Robbie Williams Rewind** Join husband and wife Matt and Lucy, as they rewind through legendary pop star Robbie Williams’ solo career.  Each episode, they have a guest fan to help us relive Robbie’s incredible music and tours. EP51 - BRITPOP Album Part 1

The wait is over — we’re diving into Robbie’s BRITPOP album with Part 1 of our track-by-track review. Joined by James from Scotland and Edite from Latvia, we break down the opening 6 songs of the album: Rocket, Spies, Pretty Face, Bite Your Tongue, Cocky and All My Life.  From the promo campaign to release date drama, artwork to sales stats, we dig into what BRITPOP says about Robbie right now. We discuss what the songs mean to us and analyse each of the music videos.  James shares how Robbie went from being the soundtrack to childhood car journeys to becoming a genuine passion, sparked by a deep dive ahead of the Isle of Wight Festival. Fast forward, and he’s now seen Robbie three times in the past year, bringing a fresh but fully invested fan perspective to the review. Edite takes us on her journey from teenage fandom in Latvia to experiencing Robbie live for the first time on the BRITPOP tour. The show didn’t just meet expectations, it completely reignited her love for music. She’s since been back twice more… and even found herself singing part of Come Undone into Robbie’s mic at her second gig.  ====== **About Robbie Williams Rewind** Join husband and wife Matt and Lucy, as they rewind through legendary pop star Robbie Williams’ solo career.  Each episode, they have a guest fan to help us relive Robbie’s incredible music and tours.
