    Episode 13: Silver Linings Podcast

    Disclaimer: Thomas and I recorded this episode about 2 months before the day I uploaded it because of its less than stellar sound quality. No idea what I was thinking recording this in a parking garage in my car and I apologize for that. After throwing it into DaVinci to de-noise it a bit (which barely did anything) I decided to post it anyways because I think this episode does have good things to offer. With that being said, I really hope you can try to look past the bad sound and try to find the good bits in the episode. Maybe this was all unintentionally on theme :/ My time with Thomas sometimes feels like it's getting more scarce over the years. Living across the country from each other has been tough at times but we still find lots similarities in our experiences. In this episode we talk about how sometimes movies really are the silver lining to a life often filled with more struggle and loneliness than we'd expect. We give some thoughts on recent popular films like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, and what it can be like watching movies under the influence. We discuss the ethics of a film like May December, and the touchy themes it explores. And finally we talk about everyone's favorite actress, Jennifer Lawrence, and a few films she was in. This of course eventually leads us to talk about one of my all time favorites, Silver Linings Playbook. We hope you not only enjoy the episode but also find the time to enjoy more movies.     Episode 12: Blue Moon

    Sit back, grab a sandwich, crack open a Blue Moon (tea if that's not your thing), and listen to the insight of up-and-coming filmmaker (and aspiring DJ), Omar Matias. We talk about Omar's current project and the certain qualities that define a film director. We discuss Spielberg, Sofia Coppola, and a film we watched the previous night titled, The Worst Person in the World. Afterwords, we raise some personal questions regarding our previous projects, what we're currently working on, and what we have on the horizon as filmmakers. Do we have any regrets? How/where/why should we share our films? And the big one: Are all movies actually about your parents' divorce? Who knows? Let's just make more art :) Chris

Good to have you back. In this episode I invite on another Chris (holy shit TWO CHRISES?!) to discuss a whole lotta movie and filmmaking stuff. We talk about how we met, RRR, our short films, and our filmmaking plans after college. We bring up some of the difficulties of tackling a career in film, and the various stigmas people often hold against it. Finally we get personal on what our favorite movies mean to us and to our dreams. This was a super fun one to make and I hope you enjoy,  Chris (Lawrence)

    (I recorded this with a bloody nose so that’s why I sound out of breath) (So shut up) Seasoned guest and movie expert, Thomas returns for an in-person episode recorded right here in Santa Cruz, California. In alignment with this being our tenth episode, we decided to do a Top-Ten run of our favorite movies of all time. We discuss the films we chose with lots of depth and appreciation.     Episode 9: No Dutch Crunch (Or Swearing)

    Join Erin and I (two future teachers) (hopefully) in a brand new episode that covers all things teaching related, and so much more. She brings her expertise regarding the ways teachers appear on screen. We shine some light on white saviorism in film and in the educational world by doing a quick analysis of “Dangerous Minds” which was set at our High School. We also talk about the editing process and film production. But if you like New Girl, Abbott Elementary, Bridgerton, or Ice Age this episode is for you.     Episode 8: All-American

    Nout makes his debut in an episode that covers all things American, and an insane amount of Breaking Bad. We open with his favorite movie, The Breakfast Club, which leads to a recent one we watched together in Jackass Forever. He shines some light on how movies in the Netherlands stand apart from the US and answers the age old question: What’s harder Film or Computer Science? During the second half we have on another guest, Ramiro to discuss shows and franchises, and when and how they should end. We discuss the nostalgia factor along with how much movie culture has changed over time. Loved recording this one, and we hope you all enjoy! Chris

    Episode 7: OO7

    Thomas makes his return to another therapy session and to discuss all things Bond. James Bond. We place our focus on the Craig films and debate the controversial ending to the era in No Time to Die. After the short intermission we advertise the Netflix show Master of None and talk about Anthony Hopkins' Oscar-winning performance in The Father. I then surprise Thomas when I bring up a movie he's always recommended I watch, which leads us into talking about the emotional value of movies themselves. Thanks again for listening, Chris

    Episode 6: Full Commando

    The first and last time I do a solo episode. Sit through an hour of me wallowing in self pity and saying "um" a lot. Besides that I somehow still have time to talk about college film classes, what makes for a good movie in my eyes, and some of my all time favorites. A few recents I covered were Dune, The French Dispatch, and House of Gucci. Earplugs recommended. Chris
