Love That Serves and Forgives (Marriage as a Mission) Pt 1 - 331

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes. The fights that wear a marriage down rarely start with something huge. They start with tone, timing, assumptions, and the quiet temptation to keep receipts. This week, we are discussing the real moments when daily life rubs against expectations, love stops feeling effortless, and we unpack why those moments don’t have to be warning signs. They can be invitations to build something deeper. We dig into the difference between transactional relationships and covenant marriage, where love isn’t measured by fairness but shaped by commitment and Christlike character. We talk about serving without becoming a doormat, choosing humility over pride, and the hard truth that you can win an argument while losing connection. Along the way, we bring Scripture into the practical mess of marriage, from 1 Corinthians 13 and Galatians 5:13 to the call in Colossians 3:13 to forgive as we’ve been forgiven. Forgiveness is the thread running through everything: releasing the right to punish, refusing to weaponize the past, and learning what’s worth addressing versus what’s worth releasing. We also warn about the slow damage of unresolved hurts, unspoken expectations, and the way unforgiveness can open a door to resentment and division. The goal isn’t a flawless relationship; it’s a faithful one built by two surrendered people who keep God in the middle. If you’re in a hard season, don’t quit. Press play, share this with a couple who needs hope, and subscribe so you don’t miss part two. If the conversation helps you, leave a review and tell us what act of service or forgiveness you’re choosing this week. Want to purchase the book and study guide for this series? Isaiah 9:8-15 - Judgment is Coming ... Israel's Still Talking Trash - 330

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes. Pride can sound like confidence, progress, and resilience until you realize it is just a louder way of refusing to repent. We open Isaiah 9:8-15 and watch Israel respond to collapse with a bold plan: upgrade the materials, rebuild the walls, and act like the problem is only external. God calls it what it is: pride and arrogance of heart, and he makes it clear that a cosmetic fix cannot heal a spiritual fracture. We move verse by verse through God’s word “against Jacob” that will “fall on Israel,” setting the historical stage with the northern kingdom’s growing vulnerability and the shadow of Assyria. The text shows God’s sovereignty over nations, the pressure of enemies from every side, and the sobering refrain that his hand is still stretched out because the people still will not turn back. Along the way, we connect the ancient temptation to the modern Christian life: we can look fine on the outside, stay active, and still ignore the conviction meant to restore us. The passage also exposes what happens when leadership loses the truth. Isaiah names the “head” as honored leaders and the “tail” as prophets who teach lies, a warning that comfortable voices can be spiritually dangerous. We close with practical takeaways on humility, repentance, spiritual discernment, and rebuilding from the inside out, in our marriages, our homes, our churches, and our own hearts. Roles with a Purpose (Marriage as a Mission) Pt 2 - 329

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes. “Head of the home” gets misunderstood fast, especially when people have seen leadership abused. We slow it down and rebuild the picture from Scripture: servant leadership that looks like Jesus, not control. Using Ephesians 5 and Matthew 20, we talk about what biblical marriage roles are actually for: unity, peace, and a shared mission under God, where authority comes with responsibility and love shows up as sacrifice.  We also get real about how this plays out on a random Tuesday. Chores, parenting, work-related stress, and those moments when one spouse feels unseen can turn into power struggles. We explain why shared responsibility matters, why encouragement changes the emotional temperature of a home, and how respect becomes a daily choice that builds trust. We also address a common marriage pressure point: income and “who pays the bills.” If one spouse works outside the home and the other is a stay-at-home parent, that does not create a higher rank. It calls for more unity, more honor, and more teamwork.  Complementarity is not about identical tasks. It is about different strengths moving in the same direction. We talk about decision-making that includes real conversation, prayer, and listening before leading, plus spiritual leadership that is a partnership, not a solo act. When a husband leads with love and a wife responds with trust, marriage becomes a living picture of the gospel, a Christ-centered witness that kids feel and neighbors notice.  If this encouraged you, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a five-star review so more couples can find it. Isaiah 9:1-7 - The Prince of Peace Enters the Chat - 328

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes. When everything feels like it’s coming apart, we instinctively look for a plan: better leaders, better headlines, better coping strategies. Isaiah walks straight into a national crisis and delivers a message that sounds almost unreal at first: the gloom won’t last, and a great light is coming. We open Isaiah 9:1–7 and follow the argument step by step, watching God replace fear with promise and survival mode with hope.  We dig into the history behind Zebulun and Naphtali, the Assyrian invasion, and why “Galilee of the nations” is such an important detail for understanding the prophecy. Then we connect the dots to the New Testament, where Matthew highlights Jesus beginning His ministry in that very region. The pattern is striking: the place that felt first dishonor becomes the first place to see redemption, which is a word many of us need when our own lives feel marked by loss, anxiety, or uncertainty.  From there, we unpack the heart of the passage: “For to us a child is born… and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” We talk through what each title reveals about Jesus, why some interpreters consider an immediate reference like Hezekiah, and why Isaiah’s language ultimately points to a King whose rule is endless, just, and righteous according to the Davidic covenant. We close with a clear application: real peace isn’t the absence of problems, it’s Christ ruling within us, and God’s promises can be trusted even before we see the outcome.  If this Bible study encouraged you, subscribe to the podcast, share it with a friend who needs hope, and leave a review so more people can find it. Roles with a Purpose (Marriage as a Mission) Pt 1 - 327

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes. Marriage can look fine on the outside, yet feel as if it were assembled without instructions. We talk about the missing piece most couples never get taught: marriage has a God-given design, and when we treat it as purposeful instead of accidental, the whole relationship starts to make sense. We dig into Genesis 2:24 and the idea that you’re not just building a life together, you’re stewarding something sacred that’s meant to thrive, not merely survive.  We also challenge the pressure to make marriage “equal” every day and replace it with something better: shared surrender. Scorekeeping turns spouses into competitors, but surrender turns you into teammates with the same mission. From there, we walk through biblical roles with clarity and care, using Ephesians 5 to explain why a husband’s headship is responsibility, not a power trip, and why leadership must look like Christ’s sacrifice and service. We talk about respect as something a man earns through love, prayer, and humility.  Then we address the word that makes many people tense: submission. We explain why biblical submission is not silence, weakness, or losing your voice. It’s choosing unity over control while still having real conversations and making decisions together. We’re also explicit that Scripture never calls anyone to tolerate abuse, manipulation, or control. Finally, we pull the curtain back on spiritual warfare in marriage, how small conflicts can spiral, and why you’re not fighting your spouse, you’re fighting for your marriage.  Subscribe to the next part of the series, share this with a couple who needs hope, and leave a five-star review if our podcast helps you build a stronger Christ-centered marriage. Isaiah 8:15-22 - Mediums, Spirits, and Other Bad Yelp Reviews - 326

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes. When anxiety spikes, most of us don’t stop seeking answers; we just start seeking them faster. That’s what makes Isaiah 8:15–22 feel so uncomfortably current: Judah is surrounded by fear, rejects God’s instruction, and then goes hunting for “hidden insight” from mediums and necromancers instead of asking the living God. We walk verse by verse through one of the darkest stretches in Isaiah 8 and trace the fallout: stumbling, being snared, spiritual hunger, rage, and finally “distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish.” Along the way, we slow down on Isaiah’s call to “bind up the testimony” and “seal the teaching among my disciples,” a picture of preserving Scripture and forming a faithful remnant amid a spiritually compromised wider culture. We also talk about Isaiah’s personal posture: waiting for the Lord even when God seems to hide his face and holding on to hope when obedience feels lonely. Then we bring it home. Most people today aren’t booking a séance, but we are surrounded by counterfeit voices that promise clarity and identity: trends, influencers, politics, horoscopes, self-help, and endless hot takes. Isaiah gives a simple filter for discernment: “To the teaching and to the testimony.” If a voice won’t line up with God’s Word, it has no dawn. Isaiah 8 ends in thick darkness, but it intentionally sets the stage for Isaiah 9 and the promise of great light, which we point to as messianic hope fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Christ in the Center (Marriage as a Mission) Pt 2 - 325

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes. Most marriages don’t implode; they drift, and it usually happens while you’re doing “good” things. You’re working hard, raising kids, trying to keep the house steady, and then one day you realize you’ve built a life together but stopped building each other. We get honest about that slow fade and why it can make a marriage feel less like a relationship and more like a well-organized group project.  We walk through a simple but challenging biblical order that brings alignment back: God first, spouse second, then everything else. From there, we name three common threats that sneak in quietly: career, kids, and comfort. None of them is bad, but any of them can become a form of idolatry when they take Christ’s place, and that shift always shows up in your connection, your communication, and your joy. We also talk about why child-centered living can feel loving while still starving the marriage, and why empty nest seasons expose what you’ve been avoiding for years.  Then we turn practical: returning to the “marriage altar” daily with small choices that actually reshape a relationship, like praying together even when it feels awkward, forgiving without keeping score, and choosing to be Christ-like instead of trying to win. We also address ego, pride, and control, especially around work and money, and how humility changes the tone of every disagreement.  If you want Christian marriage advice that is clear, biblical, and doable, press play, then share this with a couple who needs a reset, and leave a review so more marriages can find it. Isaiah 8:8-14 - Isaiah's Guide to Not Freaking Out - 324

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes. Panic is contagious, and Isaiah names it with uncomfortable clarity: people start calling everything a conspiracy, alliances multiply, and fear becomes the default language. We open Isaiah 8:8-14 verse by verse and follow the flood imagery of Assyria’s invasion sweeping into Judah “up to the neck”, a vivid picture of pressure that feels total even when it is not final. What stops us in our tracks is the phrase “O Emmanuel” right in the middle of the warning. God is still with his people in the flood. We talk about what that means when the storm is real, when consequences are heavy, and when the headlines feel relentless. We also trace Isaiah’s taunt toward the nations: strap on your armor, take counsel together, speak your word, and still watch it fail because “God is with us”. Then the focus turns inward, where the deeper battle lives. God tells Isaiah not to walk in the way of the people and not to fear what they fear. We explore how the fear of the Lord reorders the heart, why “sanctify the Lord” is practical and not abstract, and how God becomes a sanctuary for those who trust him but a stumbling stone for those who resist him.
