Ramblin' Through The Blues - Jimi Hendrix - Controversy, Contracts and Chaos

Please leave a comment Jimi Hendrix was one of the most revolutionary guitarists the world has ever seen, but his extraordinary talent and rise to international fame weren't without their fair share of controversy. In this episode of Rod’s Ramblings, we’re looking at some of the disputes that surrounded Hendrix during his remarkable career. From the controversial artwork used on albums such as Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold as Love and Electric Ladyland, to the contractual wrangles that threatened to follow him throughout his career, there’s much more to this story than blistering guitar solos and psychedelic rock. We’ll explore how Hendrix’s image sometimes proved just as controversial as his music, and take a closer look at his complicated relationship with Ed Chalpin, the record producer who claimed to hold a contract dating back to the days when Jimi was still a relatively unknown musician working with Curtis Knight and the Squires. How could a contract signed before Hendrix became famous come back to haunt him after he had conquered the music world? What did it mean for his recordings, his career and the music he would go on to make with the Band of Gypsys? So, join me as we turn back the clock, dig into the stories behind the headlines, and discover how one of rock music’s greatest innovators found himself caught up in a series of controversies that threatened to overshadow his genius. It’s time to get rambling through the blues — with Jimi Hendrix!  Music is 'Nine Lives, None Left' and 'White Light' by The Foundling.  Theme tune is 'Late Night Ramble' by River Run Dry.  All music is provided by Epidemic Sound.

Rambling Discoveries - Nemesis by Baby Boomerang

Please leave a comment During a recent clean out of my loft I came across a CD containing a number of 'musical ideas' which were produced as part of a project I was involved in a number of years ago called 'Baby Boomerang'.  Each of the tracks were recorded using the Propellorhead Reason software.  Sadly, or possibly thankfully, only five of the tracks were salvageable.  Each of those tracks have been reproduced here as part of my Rambling Discoveries series.  I hope you get the same amount of enjoyment from listening to them as I did recording them  Thanks, Rod x
