    Students learn about professional discrimination.

    A classroom of students have an opportunity to engage with Dr. Ann McDaniel about her experience as a black professional woman. Dr. McDaniel provides the students with insight into some of the challenges they might encounter within the workforce. Her personal and professional transparency of experiences with encountering racial and gender discrimination is insightful. The students asked questions about her experience, which makes this session very intense because of the sensitivity. Dr. McDaniel and students did an amazing job making this session very informative.

It is eye-opening to listen to her describe these encounters at previous places of employment and while interviewing.  I leveraged my podcast to perform a live interview of Dr. McDaniel's work experience and education to show listeners and potential recruiters the untapped talent awaiting to be hired. If highly qualified subject matter experts like Dr. McDaniel is having these challenges, we really need to shine more light on the diversity and inclusion lens.  After interviewing Dr. McDaniel, I coached her on areas she can consider to widen her opportunities as a subject matter expert in medical lab research (i.e. criminal forensics, pharmaceutical, healthcare insurance, etc.). David's parents were told that he would never be able to advance professionally because of a lack of cognitive skills, recommending vocational school as an alternative. David proved those teachers wrong by obtaining his bachelors and Master of Social Work degree, along with many other certifications.  David specializes in trauma including that of bullying, addiction, jail/prison diversion, sexual assault, sex trafficking, veteran care, LGBTQ issues,  extreme anxiety disorders, and personality disorders.  We discussed the topic of "white privileged" by defining it as a social systemic problem, requiring license professional social workers to provide community services. I coached David on identifying the two critical services (Social Coping & Administration) to help streamline the community offerings and raise funding.  - Social Coping to help victims address historical and/or current abuse, which can hinder personal and professional advancement.  - Administration to help victims navigate the system of available government and privatized resources they qualify to receive assistance. Lastly, we redefined the Mission Statement: "EBTS Mission is to help communities proactively address the signs and symptoms of behavioral issues within individuals and families to provide empowering intervention with WRAPAROUND CARE". We break down some of the key areas: Confidence, Empathy, Determination, Lifetime Student Mindset, and always finding ways to build a strong brand for yourself.  In addition, we addressed the topic of diversity and inclusion that has been a cross industry initiative. Why is diversity and inclusion still an issue after "affirmation action" was put in place many years? How can this become more about "affirmative respect" as it will cover everyone cross culturally? Finally, Andrew and I discuss some of the programming initiatives that his charter has scheduled. She explains her decision to leave corporate marketing and into entrepreneurship. It is truly inspirational for any women interested in entrepreneurship in fields normally dominated by men.  During the session, I provide Jade with business transformation strategies to grow her model. Jade immediately starts thinking of ways to apply, as part of an exploration for a potential adoption. She also reaches out to the community by sharing her scholarship fund, which is to offer to pay for the CDL license for one candidate per year.  I loved this session! Background on Jade: Jade Samuels (CEO) leads KJS Logistics, a heavy duty trucking company, into the future and hopes to encourage the next generation of young entrepreneurs in the process. Among her many interests include reading, research, and exercise, but most importantly community outreach even as she strives to motivate, encourage and educate those around her.     How to measure your success?
