Between Sundays E6- Entering the Tension

Palm Sunday feels like a celebration—but underneath the palm branches and shouts of “Hosanna” is a deeper tension. The crowd expected a conquering king. Instead, Jesus arrives in humility, redefining what power really looks like. In this episode of Between Sundays, we reflect on the gap between the Savior we often want and the one we actually get. In a world shaped by control, urgency, and domination—even in moments like this past weekend’s “No Kings” protests—what does it mean to follow a Jesus who chooses vulnerable, sacrificial love instead? We’ll explore two responses to Jesus: the crowd, full of expectation but misunderstanding… and the woman who anoints him, offering quiet, costly devotion. As we begin Holy Week, this conversation invites us to examine our expectations, release our need for control, and step into the tension of a different kind of kingdom. What kind of power are we really seeking—and are we willing to live it out?

Between Sundays E5- Learning to See Again

In this week’s episode of Between Sundays, we reflect on the slow, honest journey of faith through the lens of a two-stage healing story from the Gospel of Mark. What happens when faith that once felt clear becomes uncertain? How do we hold onto devotion when certainty begins to fade? And what if that shift isn’t failure, but growth? This episode explores faith after disillusionment, whether shaped by church conflict, political tension, personal loss, or the upheaval of recent years, and offers a gentle reminder: gradual healing is still healing. Featuring insights inspired by Brian McLaren, this reflection invites you to embrace a deeper, more honest faith. One that makes room for questions, complexity, and transformation. If your vision feels a little blurry right now, you’re not alone. Stay open. Stay curious. And trust that Christ is still helping you see.

Between Sundays E4- Storms, Fear, and the Presence of Christ

In this week’s episode of Between Sundays, we reflect on two powerful moments from the Gospel of Mark—Jesus calming the storm and bringing healing to Jairus’ daughter and the woman who had been suffering for twelve years. These stories remind us that fear is a natural part of being human. The disciples were afraid in the storm. Jairus feared losing his daughter. The woman in the crowd feared being seen. Yet in every moment, Jesus meets people right where they are. This short reflection explores a simple but profound truth: faith is not the absence of fear—it’s the presence of Christ in the boat. You’ll also find a few practical questions and a simple breath prayer to help you notice Christ’s presence in the storms you may be facing this week. Take a moment, take a breath, and listen in.

Between Sundays E3- Healing and Disruption

(I apologize for the audio quality this week. Good audio equipment makes a huge difference!) In this week’s episode of Between Sundays, we reflect on two powerful healing stories from the Gospel of Mark—the paralyzed man lowered through the roof and the man with the withered hand healed in the synagogue. These stories remind us that when Jesus brings healing, something else often gets disrupted. Systems, expectations, and traditions that once seemed unquestionable are challenged when compassion takes center stage. Drawing on insights from theologian James H. Cone, this episode invites us to consider where healing is needed in our own lives and where love might be calling us to challenge patterns that keep people from flourishing. You’ll also find a few simple reflection questions and practices to carry into the week—because discipleship doesn’t end on Sunday morning. Where might God be bringing healing in your life—and what holy disruption might come with it?

Between Sundays E2- The Nets We're Holding

In this week’s episode of Between Sundays, we revisit Sunday’s message on Jesus’ call to “Follow me” in the Gospel of Mark — and the quiet but costly act of leaving our nets behind. Those nets weren’t just fishing tools. They were security, identity, income, and expectation. And if we’re honest, we have nets too. In this short reflection, we explore: Why we resist letting go What following Jesus actually costs And how small, faithful acts of release shape deeper trust You’ll also receive simple, practical questions and actions to carry into your week — because discipleship doesn’t just happen on Sunday. If you’ve ever felt the tension between comfort and calling, this episode is for you. Take a breath. Listen in. And consider: What nets are you still holding?

Between Sundays E1- Into the Wilderness

Episode 1: Into the Wilderness In this first episode of Between Sundays, we reflect on Mark 1:9–15 and the beginning of Jesus’ Lenten journey. Before he preaches, heals, or calls disciples, Jesus is named beloved—and then led into the wilderness. What if our wilderness seasons aren’t signs of failure, but places of formation? This episode offers a brief recap of Sunday’s message along with practical questions and a simple daily practice to help you live grounded in belovedness during the week ahead. Because faith doesn’t stop at the benediction—it unfolds in the real, ordinary spaces between Sundays.
