The government of India passed the right to education act in 2009, securing free and compulsory education to all children between the ages of 6 to 14 years. And India currently has 487 million children. So how does a country like ours provide a good quality education to nurture young people into active citizens of a vibrant democracy?     Literacy through Libraries

    Today, a book can be bought with just a touch of a button. What’s more, it could be entirely read on a small device. Despite these technological advancements, there are children who cannot access books at all in India. Tata Trusts’ Kal Ka Classroom talks about their initiatives that work towards improving the Indian education system. In this episode, we learn about the path-breaking work that the Parag Initiative has done to encourage building of local, community, school and personal libraries of children’s literature.     Ever since the pandemic, QR codes have become essential to our lives. From reading the menu at a restaurant to making online payments, everything can happen in just one scan. But, how can QR codes become a part of a child’s education?  Tata Trusts’ Kal Ka Classroom talks about their initiatives that work towards improving the Indian education system. In this episode, we draw inspiration from Ranjitsinh Disale, a teacher who started putting QR codes in school textbooks and eventually won him the Global Teacher Prize in 2020. But what if cricket wasn’t just about playing a game, but that taught you how to be a better at life?
