    Size of Wales and International Women's Day | Episode 23

    In this episode, we’re joined by Barbara Davies-Quy, deputy director of Size of Wales and Deborah Nabulobi, a Gender Champion and Community leader from Bumaena village, Mbale in Uganda. Size of Wales work with indigenous and local people worldwide to grow trees and protect at least 2 million hectares of tropical forests – an area the size of Wales.     In December's episode, I’m pleased to welcome Amber Demetrius. Amber is head of global learning at the Welsh Centre for International Affairs (WCIA). WCIA is a key partner in the Hub Cymru Africa partnership. WCIA has delivered global citizenship with schools for decades and has 60 years’ experience of international exchange. They’ve developed strong networks across schools through multiple Erasmus partnership projects, their global learning work Amber is responsible for promoting global citizenship with young people and schools and is responsible for WCIA’s educational programmes, supporting schools making links between Wales and the world. In this episode, we’ll be having more of a conversation and exploring what global citizenship actually is.     Sudanese Civil War with Israa Mohammed | Episode 19

    November’s episode of the Wales, Africa and the World Podcast features Israa Mohammed, Chair of Global Health Partnerships Cymru and an advanced epidemiological scientist from Sudan, now working at Public Health Wales where she investigates trends in diseases and makes sure Wales is prepared to respond to outbreaks.     Martha Musonza Holman, Love Zimbabwe, Black History Month and Fairtrade Fortnight | Episode 18

    Today, we’re joined Martha Musonza Holman. Martha is the founder of the Love Zimbabwe charity and the Love Zimbabwe Fairtrade CIC. Established in 2001, Martha’s work with Love Zimbabwe charity involves establishing and supporting several workers’ cooperatives in Zimbabwe, including the Chinamhora Community Centre, just north of Harare. As one of Wales’ leading black women and an expert in sustainable development and fair trade, I’m delighted to welcome Martha here today. We'll be covering her work setting up Love Zimbabwe into the success it is today, Black History Month and the recently completed Fairtrade Fortnight.
