I originally met DK at Artlanta's Art Basel event last December. This episode is unique as it's recorded in two separate parts, giving you an in-depth look at DK's life and creative process. Part 1: DK invited me to join him in a recording session with Almighty Jay. As we discussed DK's background and what led him to become a rapper, Jay was in the booth laying down tracks. I met Mike at his brother Dave’s wedding in St. Louis last weekend. Dave, being my frat brother, meant I had to make the trip to support and celebrate his marriage! During the festivities, another one of my frat brothers mentioned that Dave's brother Mike was not only an artist but a really talented one. Intrigued, I followed Mike on Instagram and planned to check out his music later. Little did I know, I'd get a taste of his talent sooner than expected. At the wedding reception, one of Mike's songs played, and the energy in the room was electric. I knew I had to connect with him. After the song, I went over to him, dapped him up, and invited him to be on my podcast if he was ever in Miami. To my surprise, he told me that he and his girlfriend were actually going to be in Miami that very week! The odds were unbelievable, and we quickly set a date to make the podcast happen. Melanie shared with us her parenting style and how she has nurtured Ailani's talents and passions. But Melanie's story is equally inspiring. After 25 years as an ER nurse, she took a "quantum leap of faith" to pursue a career in deal-making, connecting buyers and sellers. Her tales of navigating this unique industry left me in awe, and I knew I had to learn more.
