Live from the Idea Collective Retreat in Lake Geneva - The Mother of All Podcast Episodes with Susan Trumpler and Melissa Blair

In this very special episode, Susan Trumpler and Melissa Blair talk about what it’s like to work with someone in your family - in particular, their daughters Lindsay Trumpler and Stephanie Blair, who join in on the conversation.  Melissa started her journey with a sales training business she started with her mother. Now she is working with her daughter, Stephanie, in their business Cultivating Sales.  Susan’s daughter, Lindsay Trumpler, has been a business partner in Beyond ROI for over 10 years, measuring the impact of sales training.  These mother-daughter teams let you in on the challenges of working with your family, managing the change in relationship dynamics when you go from family to business partner and co-worker, and figuring out how to stay in your lane. They share the importance of setting and respecting each other's boundaries and recognizing different work styles and how to learn from each other. Episode Highlights: 04:08 One of the silver linings of covid was, she was finishing up her freshman year in college and I said come home, I’ll give you work to do for the summer and it’s all history from there. 05:53 It’s amazing that someone - at the time, 19 years old, now you’re 20 almost 21 - she gets sales and marketing. 07:08 I was good at a lot of things that she hated, and it was a natural fit, but certainly not an easy fit. 08:25 We had to figure out whose lane was whose. Whose responsibility was this or that. I think there was a lot of stepping on toes for a while. 11:40 I grew up a workaholic. You were of no value unless you worked too much.  12:07 I value my “me” time much more than Susan might. I value moving your body daily and not sitting at your desk for 10-12 hours straight. I make that a priority no matter what my calendar looks like.  Contacts: Susan and Lindsay Trimpler https://www.getbeyondroi.com/ Melissa and Stephanie Blair https://www.cultivatingsales.com/aboutus The Idea Collective ideacoachmedia.com/idea Podcast Town  podcasttown.net

Live from the Idea Collective Retreat in Lake Geneva, WI - My Walk, My Way with Angela and Laura

In this episode, Angela Witczak and Laura Hulleman talk about their book called “My Walk, My Way”. They dive deep into what the purpose of the book is and how it could help other people. The book contains 11 stories of different women with unique personalities and experiences in life wherein each story has a support structure of the Endo Type Formula. The two women explain the formula and how it could help you in your daily life. Episode Highlights 05:47 One of the things I’ve learned is that at the end of the day, losing 60 pounds did not fix my marriage.  08:30 We wanted women to be inspired to do things their own way, to handle the challenges of life and to grant them permission, but also to tell these stories from the perspective of different personality types.  11:59 Inside the book that we’re hosting, it’s not a business book but we have business stories. It’s not a parenting book but we have parenting stories. We have stories from all different perspectives. It’s a relatable book for every woman to be able to pick up and read.  14:30 We have these really inspirational and transformational stories from these 11 different authors but then underneath, we have this other support structure of the Endo Type Formula.  Contacts: Angela Witczak https://www.linkedin.com/in/angela-witczak-5aa689163 Laura Hulleman https://www.linkedin.com/in/laura-hulleman-8455bb61/ The Idea Collective ideacoachmedia.com/idea Podcast Town  podcasttown.net

Live from the Idea Collective Retreat in Lake Geneva, WI - Green Up Solutions with Andy Weins

In this episode, the Mayor of Podcast Town, Elzie Flenard, interviews Andy Weins, a 4th generation entrepreneur. Andy talks about what helps people succeed in the entrepreneurial world, the difference between being a business owner vs being an entrepreneur - which gets confused a lot. He discusses the benefits of being your own boss, struggles with focus, and working with clients on both the front-end and the back-end.  How does Andy stand out? Hear the story from the tattooed 6’4 guy with camo pants. Episode Highlights: 04:07 All along the way, I always knew there was a better way of doing something and I always thought of better ways of doing things. 04:35 Are you willing to do the hard work, and the simple work, all the time? If you’re afraid of work, you can’t be an entrepreneur.  07:23 I want to maximize the value of things and people and places, so that’s how I got into environmental consulting.  09:08 If I want to grow my business, I have to go to networking events, which I might not love doing. 11:38 Once you find the problem that people have then you apply the solution and you communicate it effectively, and you solve the problem. 17:12 Observe, Orient, Decide, Act - and that’s what you do as a business leader 19:05 The way you win over the “sometimes” people is by being genuine, honest and unapologetic, and being in love with your craft. Live from the Idea Collective Retreat in Lake Geneva - Blue Collar BS with Brad Herda

In this episode, the Mayor of Podcast Town, Elzie Flenard, interviews Brad to learn about his journey into podcasting. They discuss Brad’s hurdles to getting started in the podcast industry, finding a podcasting community, and why conversations around generations became the focus of his podcast.  Brad shares some of the benefits of podcasting such as opportunities to create new leads, conversations with unexpected people and making connections outside the community. Listen in and find out what’s next for Blue Collar BS. Episode Highlights: 04:44 When I look at the folks in Gen X, They’re the next ones out. It’s a much smaller part of the population in the workforce.  05:25 If we don’t get Gen Z in, there’s nobody that’s gonna come and cut your lawn, there’s nobody that’s gonna come and build your house, there’s nobody that’s gonna come and fix your car. 06:16 Passion is contagious and people can sense when you love what you do and they’re attracted to it.  08:03 It’s (the podcast) generated opportunity, it’s generated the leads, it’s generated some clients, some conversations. It’s been very productive from that perspective even though that was not the intent of doing it. The intent of doing it was to get that message out there. 12:05 If you don’t figure out how to get the Gen Z’s in and communicate differently and at least be aware - you’re in trouble.
