I just found your podcast and started listening from Season 1, Episode 1. There are definitely some production issues that make it hard to get through at times—the heavy breathing, background noise, inconsistent audio quality, and awkward transitions into the main topic.
What really stood out to me, though, was the discussion during the Alex Pretti ICU RN murder episode about remaining friends with people who hold opposing beliefs.
That perspective feels profoundly privileged. For some people, political or social beliefs are simply differences of opinion. For others, those beliefs directly impact our safety, rights, and ability to exist peacefully. As a brown person, I don’t have the luxury of treating certain views as an abstract disagreement when those same views can contribute to discrimination, hostility, or harm toward me, my family, and my community.
It’s easy to say “we can still be friends despite our differences” when those differences don’t threaten your well-being. For many of us, that’s simply not the reality. Hearing that perspective presented so casually felt dismissive of experiences that are very real and consequential.
