Hellooo you wonderful audio lovers N makers n shakers of the audibly fantastical in these challenging and uncertain times - but yay for the craft of audio fiction creation and bubbles of grooviness where Audio Fiction Creative Folks can connect and enjoy the talents herein at such joyous events as a podcast festival! I went to London Podcast Fest a few weekends ago, and caught up with a few amazing creatives who were performing, supporting and enjoying this fest of audio loving joy! At time of recording this, my voice had alll the allergies so is soft and gently soporific or some such, and the mic I was using to interview had to contend with high ceilinged thronging chatty podcast festival crowds, and I think did rather well buttt yes, the quality of the sound differs a little from the usual. 415 - Being a Neurodiverse creative with Andi White, Carl G Brooks and Jen DeHaan

This new JOYOUS episode of INDIE AF looks at what its like to be a neurospicy creative with guests ANDI WHITECARL G BROOKS JEN DEHAAN There is so much explored in this episode from how to utilise neurospicy fuelled creative skills and our beautiful unique brains to help make the very best audio fiction. Carl makes up a new word - rackedly - Andi becomes our dictionary of terms corner, and Jen shares many top tips on making working practices better. We explore being and working with being  alexithymia hyperfantastia, dyslexia, interoception, ptsd and more. Yes, we may overshare, yes one project is just boring when seven will do, but mostly, we strive to get things done - and oh how exciting it is to actually finish something - like getting this episode out! It should be celebrated! Why? Because... We also talk Why its almost impossible to work in a linear fashionWhy Multi-tasking is the normWhy there should be a burnout warning indicatorWhy putting direction in the script helps actors and post prod to know what to doHow shrinking the font helps actors understand you want them to talk quieter/whisperWhat ADHD meansHow finishing something is a major achievementHow folks can help neurodiverse folks be their best and not have to mask up or shrinkWhy deadlines are missedWhat spoons are and why they’re importantHow having the ability to do asynchronous things can helpHaving very clear requirements sent in good timeWhy networking is difficultWhat RSD isWhat masking isAND SO MUCH MORE± HUGE THANKS to my wonderful patreons - I am ever so grateful for you all, supporting my works and helping get this lovely fun filled show out into the world and giving audio fiction creators a voice. If you want to help more eps get made, please feel free! Here I truly hope you enjoy this ep, feel seen, and reach out if you need to to any of us or the links below. Whatever happens, know you have a tribe in audio fiction creatives, and hope you can continue to make the very best of your inate superpowers, can unmask and be your authentic self and create. I feel there's a high probability that if you (the listener) don't already know of several in your network as being neurodiverse, a good proportion of them will be and you don't know it.Following on.... there's probably others in your network who are, who don't know it yet.If you can, try to be open with collaborators about neurospicyness. It might help clear up possible conflicts and misunderstandings before they turn into big issues.Find ways to work that work for you. The rest of world may say you should focus on one project at a time - but if that isn't working for you, do something different. Experiment, find your own pattern and stay with that.
