    Year A, Proper 6

Send us Fan Mail Send us Fan Mail This week has us sending along another re-post from the archives, while we are on sabbatical. The readings for this week are almost exactly the same as the RCL Lectionary we were using three years ago, but any timely remarks will be tied to circa 2023. Thanks for joining us, friends, and we look forward to returning to fresh episodes very soon!  In this episode, we consider the readings for Proper 6, Year A in the Lectionary cycle: Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-7 & Psalm 116:1, 10-17; Exodus 19:2-8a & Psalm 100; Romans 5:1-8; Matthew 9:35-10:23. We discuss the story of the the messengers coming to Abram and Sarah who laughed, the Lord's message to Israel at Mt. Sinai, Psalms of Thanksgiving, Paul's words on hope and the love of Jesus, and Jesus' sending out the twelve in His name. Notes: --Dwell App --Metrical Collect for Proper 6 --We recommended Dcn. Jeremiah Webster's recent book Follow the Devil/Follow the Light a few episodes ago, and Goodreads is running a giveaway for it through June 15. See more of Dcn. Jeremiah's books here or read selected poems here. --The Bible Project --Bible Project's video on Romans --Bible Project's video on Hesed or Loyal Love 1:23 Collect 2:39 Genesis 18:1-15, 21:1-7 & Psalm 116:1, 10-17 19:41  Exodus 19:2-8a & Psalm 100 31:31  Romans 5:1-8 43:36 Matthew 9:35-10:23 Our outro music is an original song by our friend Dcn. Year A, Trinity Sunday

Send us Fan Mail Join Fr. Aaron & Marissa Burt to discuss the readings for Trinity Sunday: Genesis 1:1-2:3; Psalm 150; 2 Corinthians 13:5-14; Matthew 28:16-20. Notes: Check out Marissa's Spiritual Treadmills survey here The quote Aaron mentioned: "Polytheism, therefore, was really a sort of pool; in the sense of the pagans having consented to the pooling of their pagan religions. And this point is very important in many controversies ancient and modern. It is regarded as a liberal and enlightened thing to say that the god of the stranger may be as good as our own; and doubtless the pagans thought themselves very liberal and enlightened when they agreed to add to the gods of the city or the hearth some wild and fantastic Dionysus coming down from the mountains or some shaggy and rustic Pan creeping out of the woods. But exactly what it lost by these larger ideas is the largest idea of all. It is the idea of the fatherhood that makes the whole world one." - G.K. Chesterton, The Everlasting Man --Dwell App --2019 Book of Common Prayer The Bible Project Pentecost: A Day of Power for All People, by: Emilio Alvarez Ordinary Time: A Season of Growth, by: Amy Peeler 1:11 Collect 1:58 Answering questions about the preaching team 14:33 Genesis 1:1-2:3 33:50 Psalm 150 36:14  2 Corinthians 13:5-14 48:13 Matthew 28:16-20 Our outro music is an original song by our friend Dcn.
