    Your Child Isn't Too Far Gone

    Manasseh was the worst king in Judah’s history. He reigned 55 years. He sacrificed his own children. He put idols in the temple. Scripture says he made Judah worse than the nations God had driven out before Israel arrived. God forgave him. David is back from Kauai (via a luau that opened with the Hawaiian Doxology and a couple from his former church in Georgia, 10,000 miles from home). He and Richie unpack what Chronicles says about Manasseh that Kings doesn’t, why Manasseh lasted 55 years as one of history’s more effective politicians, and the one thing David didn’t get to say on Sunday: the unpardonable sin.     The Safety Switch That Made the Explosion Happen

    Horace wrote Carpe Diem around 60 BC. Most people quote the first part. The full phrase is: seize the day, and put no trust in tomorrow. That’s Ecclesiastes 9.     Why Does the Bible Have a Whole Book About Meaninglessness?

    David opened his Ecclesiastes 3 sermon by telling the congregation that God is really a problem. It was intentional. It’s also the only reasonable way to start a sermon on the most honest, uncomfortable book in the Bible.
