S1 E35 - What is a Postpartum Doula? with Julia Barton

Let's be honest....we're not doing well when it comes to supporting families during the postpartum period. After the baby comes, everyone seems to feel like the family doesn't need any support. In my personal situation, I was blessed to have older children to help after giving birth. If you don't have that benefit, who will help the new mom who's caring for a new tiny human?  The postpartum period isn't a time to ignore or leave the new family alone. There is still a lot that can be done to support them as they become acclimated to their new family. Understanding the ins and outs of hiring a postpartum doula. Julia Barton shares what it means to her to support families after their newest family member arrives. Would hiring a postpartum doula be beneficial for you? Julia Barton is an Entrepreneur, Postpartum Doula and Reiki Master The seeds of Julia Barton's life mission were planted when she earned her Reiki I certification at the age of eight. A born intuitive and empath, young Julia used Reiki to make herself feel safe and protected. Despite growing up in a holistic household, adulthood found her unsure of how to best use her gifts. That all changed when she started a family. Her isolating experience with postpartum depression cultivated a desire to support and nurture others. She became a Postpartum Doula and Reiki Master to offer love, warmth, and support to help new moms trust their intuition and find joy throughout their postpartum journey. Her desire to help women bloom into their fullest selves became a business, Olive & Bloom Holistic Care and Healing. S1 E33 - Generational Lies & Myths About Birth with Amanda Ignot

YEP, She's back! In this episode, Amanda and I chat briefly about the lies and myths women have come to believe in the very short time that birth has occurred in the captive state. It's time to heal all generational trauma and it begins by acknowledging that it even exists. You are not your mother, grandmother, or any woman who came before you. Your birth experience is YOURS to create. Amanda Ignot is a wife and mother of 4. She's also a birthkeeper as well as a pregnancy and childbirth coach who lives in Missouri. In this episode, Amanda and I have a very candid conversation about Amanda's personal experiences with birth. She takes you along her journey from cesarean surgery to three home births. How did she get from the space of "what the heck just happened?" to "this is my experience and you're not the boss of me"? Listen in to find out.
