    Please join us as Pastor Patrick Joyner continues the series on Ephesians. Ephesians 1:15-23. Paul was concerned that the Ephesians not only had a good start but that they wouldn’t turn aside to a new doctrine. He was also concerned about them becoming indifferent about proceeding on in the course of discipleship. Paul projects an expectation of the grand importance of the local church throughout the world. We have an overarching mission to go forward and every person in the church is intricately involved in that mission. This marvelously encouraging letter was designed to urge them on in knowledge and usefulness for the ultimate goal of the glory of the triune God. The highest honor of the church is being the body of Christ. We are intricately associated with the Lord Jesus. Are you growing in the consciousness and the goodness of Christ?

    Sunday Sermon | The Pinnacle of Human Joy: The Face of God Shining Upon Us | Psalm 67

    Please join us as Pastor Patrick Joyner preaches on Psalm 67. The culture we live in is overwhelmingly individualistic and we view every single thing in our lives primarily through the lens of ourselves. Our redemption is profoundly personal but the Lord never intended, and will not allow, the redemption of an individual to terminate on that individual. This Psalm is revealing how the Lord was going to bring about the promise made to Abraham in Genesis 12. Is your inward bent being straightened? Are you seeing the fruits of the gospel in your life that urge you on with a growing urgency to consider your part in the rescue of others? We should consider how our own personal redemption is causative in the great commission. Psalm 67 reveals how our white-hot gaze upon our Savior, set in motion by our redemption, fuels missions and how such a gaze upon the lord Jesus Christ will result in an overwhelming and contagious joy and infectious service to God’s people and the nations. Our delight in Christ is designed to be causative in spreading the gospel to the nations. It doesn’t stop at His face shining upon us; it’s shines “so that” (verse 2). The idea is that however this exuberance looks in your own personality will be used by God to increase your joy and draw others into the kingdom.

    Sunday Sermon | The Mystery and the Fullness of Time | Ephesians | Part 3

    Please join us as Pastor Patrick Joyner continues the series on Ephesians. Ephesians 1:1-10. We can be encouraged with the concept of unity; unity about a mission. The creator of the universe has a unified business for all mankind. Every single thing we do must fit into the concept of mission as a son or daughter of God. What do you get excited about? Set things aside for and take weeks to prepare? What are you really invested in? What do you dream about? Pray about? If it’s not directly associated with the centrality of being a son or daughter of God, then you are off. Our greatest joy is associated with what He has called us to do. There are people that need to be rescued. Spiritual warfare and bringing souls to salvation is a massive undertaking and the Lord has made provision - this is our mission. We are soldiers of Christ. Is the way we pray and the things we do day to day a mismatch for the mission of God? The point the Apostle Paul is making, is to never lose the overwhelming consciousness of the fact that we are sons and daughters of God, if we are redeemed. We are in the middle of spiritual warfare, that God has given us great gifts in which to carry out that battle, but that is something that is designed to consume our lives. The things we do should rejuvenate us for the mission of God. The advent of Christ wasn’t the beginning, it was the end. Night is coming. Our investment in the children of the church is about uniting all things in Christ.

    Please join us as Pastor Patrick Joyner continues the series on Ephesians. Ephesians 1:1-10. As we look at the doctrine of adoption, it’s very important for us to recognize what it is declaring and what are the implications. Nothing we do can bring us into redemption with the Lord Jesus Christ. Not only do we have nothing to offer God by way of our salvation but our sin makes us a disgraceful and despicable people. We are capable and have, in our own flesh, said, thought, and done horrible things, each worthy of an eternity in hell because of the breathtaking holiness of God. If you don’t believe this, you will have a completely wrong understanding of the gospel. We have earned hell because of our filth and wretchedness. If we forget that, when we consider our adoption, we miss out on seeing the pure love of Christ. Why would God adopt us while we were sinners? Because He loved us.

    Sunday Sermon | Jesus Christ: The Great King Who Subdues the Nations

    Please join us as Reverend Gordon Taylor preaches on Psalm 47. This Psalm celebrates God’s Kingship which is fulfilled in the promises of Abraham in Genesis chapter 12 when it says all the nations will be blessed through his seed. This Psalm doesn’t speak of an ordinary blessing, but an extraordinary one. The center of this Psalm is verse 5, speaking to the ascension of Christ. The theme is found in verse 3, because He has ascended we read that He has subdued nations under us. To open up this theme, Reverend Taylor addresses six questions: What does it mean to subdue? Who does the subduing? Who is subdued? What historical event ensures this subduing? How are these nations subdued? What is the response to this truth? This Psalm is a great encouragement for missions and for us because we know God will produce fruit through the preaching of His gospel. Have you been joyfully, wonderfully, and gloriously subdued?

    Sunday Sermon | The Marvelous Goodness of Being in Christ | Ephesians | Part 1

    Please join us as Pastor Patrick Joyner begins a new preaching series on Ephesians. Ephesians 1:1-10. In Ephesians, we see the apostle Paul lay out profoundly foundational doctrine and then describe the application, answering the question, “What now?” based on the truths of God. We continually need to hear an accurate description of the Lord Jesus Christ and what He has done. “In Christ” is a concept brought up eight times in the first ten verses of Ephesians. We see that redemption draws us into the person of Christ. Not by way of absorption but by being united to God, a forever change. This is counter to our own fleshly inclinations of being turned in on ourselves. Humanity was designed to have the greatest joy when focusing not on themselves. Until we can create a habit in which it becomes natural for us to look to others and entrust ourselves to a loving Savior and delight in Him, we will continue to rob ourselves and the future of the sweetness of God’s glory and being used in His kingdom. Every benefit we receive is because of a special union relationship with our Redeemer, an expression of Christ’s love for us. You were personally selected by God, predestined to adoption, to be holy and blameless. This union brings the redeemed into a relationship that will be explored and delighted in throughout eternity, never ceasing to bring wonder and praise.

    Sunday Sermon | Our Conformity to Christ and the Mission of God

    Please join us as Pastor Patrick Joyner preaches on conforming to Christ and the mission of God. 1 John 3:1-3. Every church has the exact same mission from God. A mission completely associated with our understanding of the nature of God: proclamation. As we look at 1 John, we see the idea of God’s nature, our joy and conformity to it as we observe it, and the mission of the church. It’s vital for us to see that evangelism is an expression of the mission of the church; it’s what God has called us to do and should be a normal activity of the church. When we think about the mission God has tasked us with, to share our faith, and as we are drawn into this mission as a result of more clarity on our part of the nature of God, we see God doesn’t motivate us out of guilt, and our involvement in mission is not out of desire to grow, or as a method to gain His favor. God’s purposes in mission is a direct reflection of His character and as we become more like Him, we will joyfully involve ourselves in mission. The apostles experienced the Lord Jesus Christ and the result of that was proclamation. They had come to understand their own personal enjoyment of the gospel is directly associated with this proclamation. The only way to have a complete joy is when we proclaim the truths of Christ. Why are we not so compelled? Why are we not experiencing Christ in this way? The church has a singular mission, a direct means to God’s ultimate purpose - to glorify His son through the worship of the church. It’s urgently important for us to know who Christ is. This is why our church and churches like ours have devoted themselves to the proclamation of the word of God. If we don’t know Christ we can’t proclaim Christ and if we can’t proclaim Christ then no one is saved and if no one is saved then the church doesn’t worship and if the church doesn’t worship the son isn’t glorified.

    Sunday Sermon | Would the Real Jesus Please Stand Up? | 2 Corinthians | Part 16

    Please join us as Pastor Patrick Joyner continues the series on 2 Corinthians. 2 Corinthians 11:1-33. In this section, Paul is concerned about a different spirit and a different gospel. There are false Christs, heresies, and proclamations that are not Christ and do not save. Because of the cunning aspect of those with a different spin on the gospel, Paul was afraid that the outcome and characteristic of the church would be different. Through cunning, lack of conviction for the truth, and their needfulness to grow in maturity, the Corinthians were beginning to understand the person of Christ, the apostle of Christ, and, ultimately, the ministry of Christ differently. Our perception of the person of Christ will determine our perception of the entire Christian religion. To be like the real Jesus, we need a real picture. It’s vitally important for us to understand the right image of Christ and biblical ministry. Churches must be shaped on as accurate an image of Christ as possible. Could we describe our relationship with the Lord Jesus as one devoted to Christ? If we think of our salvation as simply a rescue so we can live a worldly life, that is a poor image that will affect how we think and how we share the gospel.
