In life there are five major areas. We have broken them down into five "F" words: Faith, Family, Fitness, Finances, and Friendships. The goal is to learn how to live an integrated life in these areas so that one area doesn't pull from the other, but rather each area touches the other area and adds to it.

The Cleansing of the Temple Part 1

Jesus Christ here in these verses comes to the Passover and when Jesus comes to the temple He sees this awful scene. Men in the temple that were selling oxen and sheep and doves, and the moneychangers. I wonder if Christ first stood there in a little bit of confusion.  Then Jesus in all of His righteousness and holiness begins to see what really is going on. He sees that the place that back in the old testament in Isaiah 56:7 was “called an house of prayer for all people” is now being used as a “den of thieves” Matthew 21:13. Jesus begins to think this is not what I made this temple for. This is not what I desired for my house to become. I wanted prayer, praise and proclamation to be lifted up “in the house of prayer.” But instead you have turned it into a den of thieves how dare you. How dare you take that which is holy and make it unholy. How dare you take that which I Jesus Christ God of this universe have created and you make it impure. How dare you. Jesus begins to say shame on you. Shame, shame, shame on you. I can’t believe you would do such a thing.  The Bible tells us that those who are saved, that our body is the living temple of God. It is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. Let’s take a look at some of the scriptures in I Corinthians about us being the temple of God. I Corinthians 3:16-17 “16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” How do we defile this temple?

Yes he will die, but what we want to focus on is how did David live after He was restored.  David came to realize how magnificent God was after he realized how sinful he was and how forgiving God is. The depth of our realization of our sinfulness should determine the depth of our service to the King, love for the Lord, and sacrifice for the Saviour. The greatest evidence of restoration is not simply that God forgives us—it is that we begin living for SOMEONE bigger than ourselves. After David’s greatest failure, the remainder of his life wasn’t about making a name for himself. It was about preparing the next generation to worship God.  Far to often we spend much of our life accumulating things, building a kingdom for ourselves, and seeking comfort for our days. This morning we will see 5 key things that David did to prepare the next generation to worship God and how we can do them too. You see This life that we live now is not meant to be lived for ourself but rather it is to be lived as a sacrifice to God and a service to others.  5 Ways David and Us Can Prepare the Next Generation
