James brings a wealth of talent and creative energy to everything he becomes involved in.  James recent book The Gambler's Game is a book about his American grandfather, Bill Darnborough,who was born in Illinois in 1869 and was a mid-western baseball player turned professional roulette player and is the only American in history to break the bank at Monte Carlo. After spending 35 years in the media business including magazine publishing in London, New York, Sydney and Johannesburg, James is now focusing on his creative pursuits.  Join James and I as we talk about his new book The Gambler's Game and the intensive research process he endured to share the story of his grandfather, a baseball player turned professional roulette player in the late 1800's.     Today's guest, John McCarney is a graduate of the Writers Guild Foundation Veterans Writing Project, an award-winning screenwriter and community builder, who grew up in Hollywood in the 1960’s. Three of his screenplays have placed in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science Nicholl Fellowship in the last five years; two of them Semi-finalists. Has had multiple screenplays finish in the Austin Film Festival Screenwriting contest, along with many other wins. He is an American Cuban having been embraced by a Cuban family who took him in during his teen years.
