    Rethinking Nutrition with Nutrigenetics

Why can two people eat the same meal yet respond to it differently? While one may feel energized, another may experience different effects on health and well-being. Could our genes play a role in how our bodies respond to food? In this episode of, we explore the growing fields of nutrigenetics and precision nutrition and ask whether personalized approaches can complement traditional public health nutrition strategies. For decades, population-wide interventions such as food fortification, supplementation and nutrition programmes have played a crucial role in addressing undernutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. But India today faces a more complex nutrition landscape, where undernutrition coexists with obesity, lifestyle diseases and hidden deficiencies. Joining us is Dr. Sherebanu Milky, an Integrative Physician with over 24 years of clinical experience in personalized nutrition, nutrigenetics and mind-body health. The conversation explores the relationship between nutrition, genetics and health, including cognitive function and mental well-being. We also discuss traditional diets, indigenous foods and whether precision nutrition can become more accessible and relevant in diverse and low-resource settings. Finally, Dr. Milky shares practical, evidence-based approaches that individuals and families can adopt for better nutritional health—without relying solely on expensive technologies. #Nutrition #Nutrigenetics #PrecisionNutrition #PersonalizedNutrition #PublicHealth #Malnutrition #HealthyDiets #MindBodyHealth #TheGoodSightPodcast Guest: Dr. Sherebanu M. The Complementary Feeding Challenge

Every parent wants to give their child the best possible start in life. But when a baby reaches six months, introducing complementary foods is not as simple as being told, “start feeding your child.” Complementary feeding is the period when a child moves from breast milk alone to receiving other foods alongside continued breastfeeding. What happens during these months can have consequences far beyond childhood, influencing growth and development, the risk of undernutrition and, later in life, even diet-related diseases. In India, we have programmes, guidelines and public health messaging around infant and young child feeding. Yet translating that knowledge into what actually appears on a child’s plate every day remains a challenge. So, what does complementary feeding really look like in India? What are the barriers families face, and how can we make nutritious diets more affordable, accessible and practical? In this episode, we explore “Complementary Feeding: What’s Really on a Child’s Plate?” with Shweta Khandelwal, a public health nutrition expert working across nutrition epidemiology, policy and governance, and maternal and child nutrition.
