Every two weeks, hosts Logan Miller and Jenna Weishar sit down with the artists shaping Canadian country music — from the biggest names in the genre, to rising stars, to the ones you might not have heard of yet (but will soon).     Blue Ridge Band: Nordiques, Nashville, and Country Music in Quebec

    Send us Fan Mail Jeremy Plante started out in pop-punk, cutting his teeth in bands like Simple Plan before country ever entered the picture.  These days he's fronting Blue Ridge Band, and it's been a big year: a finalist spot in SiriusXM's Top of the Country alongside Shawnee Kish and Morgan Griffiths, a set at Lasso Music Festival, and enough overnight drives back and forth between Ontario and Quebec to make anyone's back hurt. On this episode, Jeremy breaks down just how different the country music landscape looks in Quebec, where major English Canadian acts barely register and building a following means playing constantly, and playing well. We also got into hockey, since Jeremy grew up in Quebec City, in what he calls "a full French area," where the sport isn't a hobby, it's inherited.  He played until midget and only stopped because touring stopped leaving room for practice. He's holding out cautious hope for hockey's return to Quebec City, and talks about the gap he sees in opportunities for girls trying to play at a competitive level, including why he'd welcome the PWHL expanding into the province. Now he's in Nashville with a publishing deal, four hundred songs in the catalogue, and his name on Canadian radio. On this episode, Brock talks about the four years he walked away from music completely, why squeezing it too tight almost killed it for him, and how a random bar gig at Simon Fraser University changed everything. He gets into his love for Jason Isbell, his philosophy on songwriting with intention, and why he thinks country music is whatever you want it to be right now. Also: the Brock Stars fan club name was invented live on this episode, and we're pretty sure it's going to stick.     Send us Fan Mail From Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Tenille Arts is one of the most accomplished Canadian country singers of the last ten years. And we were sure to roll her credits during this episode of the podcast. Tenille's first number one "Somebody Like That" is double platinum, and was the first number one to be written, produced and performed by all females. The single marked the first since Teri Clark in 2007 to reach number one in the United States. Tenille is a multi-CCMA Award winner, an ACM nominee for New Female Artist of the Year, iHeartRadio nominee for Best New Country Artist, and much more.  We had a really great chat with Tenille about much more than this. Her incredibly dedicated fanbase, her career as an artist and songwriter, and some of the deep album cuts that didn't really get their moment.     Alex Hughes: From Calgary to LA to Nashville and Back Home

    Send us Fan Mail Alex Hughes is a born-and-raised Calgary artist who has been performing since she was seven years old. She went from opening for her cousins' band at family gatherings, to chasing her career in LA and Nashville, to landing back home and making the music she always wanted to make. Her debut EP Take Me Home is out now. It's been a long time coming. We talked about growing up performing through the Calgary Stampede talent search, what it was like to move to LA at twenty and work with Grammy Award-winning producer Walter Athanasiev, the difference between LA's image-first culture and Nashville's story-first mentality, why coming back to Canada felt scary at first and then felt like exactly the right move, the song that sparked the whole project ("Until This Fire Dies"), and why "Slow Dancing in the Kitchen" almost didn't make the EP, and why she couldn't put it out without it. Also: she once drove around Alberta in a truck with her face on it. We definitely got into that. Alex is playing the Coke Stage at the Calgary Stampede this summer, along with Peach Fest in Penticton and Feast on the Beach in Cold Lake. And yes, vinyl is on the way.     Send us Fan Mail Sabrina and Dave of Rosewood Avenue are a husband and wife country duo from Northern Ontario. And when they say Northern Ontario, they mean it.  Think past Muskoka ... past Sudbury ... and keep going. They're near Timmins, home of Shania Twain, in a small town called Matheson. They've been making music together for 17 years, but it's only been the last five or six that they've been pushing it on a professional level. Sabrina spent nine years teaching music before making the leap.  Dave's always had music in his blood, with a cousin who plays lead guitar for Johnny Reid. Together, they've built something that sounds like Northern Ontario feels: honest, warm, and rooted. The band name? A little bit of a love story.  Sabrina's maiden name, Charleboix, has "bois" in it, which means wood in French. Dave always bought her roses. And Devonshire Avenue is the street where they first met as neighbours, connected by a very 2000s introduction through MSN Messenger. We talked about how they balance being a couple, co-writers, and business partners, what it was like for Dave to go from strictly guitar player to vocalist, why they haven't left their small town and don't plan to anytime soon, the Ontario country community and what it's meant to their career, and the emotional experience of hearing "Leavin' Town" on the radio for the first time.     Send us Fan Mail From the voice that brought you the On The Porch theme song, is our 100th episode with Owen Riegling.  If you have been listening since the early days, we did proclaim our 100th episode would be with Shania Twain, we even called it the "Road to Shania". Somewhere along the way we got distracted by all of the incredibly talented artists across Canada. We're thrilled to be celebrating our 100th episode with Owen. He has a lot to show for the last four years. From recording in his parents' driving shed with a handful of self-produced songs out - to a record deal, publishing deal, years of touring under his belt, multiple CCMA Awards and two albums. I'm sure I missed something. Oh yes - he made his Grand Ole Opry debut April 22nd.     Brettyn Rose: Read, Sing, Sleep, Repeat

    Send us Fan Mail Brettyn Rose grew up in Okotoks, Alberta. A very small town girl who enjoys the quiet, she now calls High River home. Just close enough to get to Calgary for gigs, but far enough away from the city to enjoy peace, quiet, and no traffic. Finding out pretty early that sports weren't for her, but music was, Brettyn started her music journey sitting at the piano. She began singing, and eventually picked up guitar. Brettyn released her first single in 2019 and has been an emerging independent artist since, slowly building, releasing singles, and playing live shows. Brettyn is also a 2025 SiriusXM Top of the Country alumni. Brettyn was nominated Horizon Female Artist and Songwriter of the Year (Wild West), at the Country Music Alberta Awards this year.  We talked about her education, and how it lends itself to music, some of her bucket list items as an artist, West Coast festivals that she's played and would love to play, and more.
