    2401 - Standing in the park.

    An experiment in practice and also in techne. I asked a friend for help with the technology of making a podcast and we arrived at the realisation that it wasn't the technology that was the primary barrier, it was the practice, the craft, the practical knowledge. It was less important to know how to use a particular piece of technology, the challenge was to make it easier for myself to record something. So this was recorded in a park. Unedited (except for the removal of two seconds of audio from the end!). It is what it was. An experiment in making something in the moment. It wasn't about how far I went or where I was heading, the important thing was to start walking again today. Hearty thanks to Bobby Lyte for our conversations around creative practice.     2301 - A little longer than intended.

    Some thoughts on "Architecture for VR" in relation to the difference angles from which architecture students and VFX artists approach their 3D models. Considering my own background in designing performance spaces (theatres, festival venues, etc) and how that relates to the creation of gathering places in virtual worlds.  The title refers to the fact that it's been (much) longer than intended since I last recorded one of these... but also that this episode is longer than 303 seconds in length. I'm allowing myself that as, really, the point here was to get going again. Getting the thing exactly right can come next. This is also the first episode shared since I told some people (precisely two) that this exists. So... there's that.

    2203 - An Invocation for New Beginnings

    Episode 2203 of 303 See Other, a personal podcast 303 seconds in length by me,  @polysemic. It’s an exercise in practice, production and thinking in public. After a couple of weeks dominated by deadlines and day jobs,  I wanted to face my Resistance to personal projects such as this podcast... which brought to mind "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield. The original Invocation for Beginnings by Ze Frank  can be found in this YouTube video. The format of this podcast is lifted directly from that of Permanently Moved by @thejaymo. The name and length of this one just felt like the right choice.

    2202 - Mounds of Scaffolding

    Episode 2202 of 303 See Other, a personal podcast 303 seconds in length by me,  @polysemic. It’s an exercise in practice, production and thinking in public. A few thoughts beginning with the 2021 Marble Arch Mound and  2004 Serpentine Pavilion; the miniature Glastonbury Tor from the London 2012 Olympic Opening Ceremony, and the Dutch Pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hanover, as it was when it opened, as it is now (via Google Earth) and as it apparently soon will be. The format of this podcast is lifted directly from that of Permanently Moved by @thejaymo. The name and length of this one just felt like the right choice.

    2201 - The when & the why

    The first attempt at a new thing. Learning new software and a workflow (audio) that is utterly foreign to me. Publishing this now because sometimes it is important just to begin. Practice will make progress. If you do find (and listen to) this, please do let me know when. For now, maybe the best place to find me is @polysemic. With apologies to @thejaymo for the outright cribbing of the format for his Permanently Moved podcast. The name and length of this one just felt like the right choice.
