154: Joyful Movement After 40: How to Make Exercise Feel Good Again

Does exercise feel like one more thing you “should” be doing but you’re tired, busy, overwhelmed, or just not motivated to force yourself through workouts you don’t enjoy? In this episode, I’m joined by Christine Miller, certified personal trainer, menopause specialist, and mom of three, for a conversation about joyful movement after 40. We’re talking about how to make movement feel doable, enjoyable, and sustainable again without guilt, punishment, or all-or-nothing thinking. Christine shares why so many women have a complicated relationship with exercise and how old experiences, gym intimidation, time pressure, or the belief that workouts have to be long and intense can keep women stuck. We also talk about how movement after 40 can support: • blood sugar balance • hormone health • metabolism • muscle and strength • bone health • mood and stress relief • better sleep • more energy • confidence and consistency Christine’s reminder is simple: consistency beats intensity. The best workout is not the hardest workout. It’s the one you enjoy and can come back to again and again. Your challenge from this episode: pick 10 minutes tomorrow to move your body in any way that feels good.  Choose the time, the place, and the activity ahead of time so it feels easy to follow through. If movement has felt like punishment, pressure, or another thing to fail at, this episode will help you rethink what counts and start building movement back into your life in a way that feels good.

153: The BEST Diet for Women Over 40 (Keto? Fasting? GLP-1s?)

Keto. Intermittent fasting. Low carb. GLP-1 medications. There is no shortage of advice telling women over 40 what they “should” be doing to lose weight, and it can get incredibly confusing. In this episode, I’m breaking down some of the most popular approaches and talking about what they get right, where they can become problematic, and what actually matters most if your goal is sustainable weight loss, less belly fat, better energy, and long-term health. Because the truth is, you probably don’t need another diet with a long list of rules. You need an approach that nourishes your body, keeps you satisfied, supports your metabolism, and actually fits into your real life. In this episode, we talk about: Why weight loss can feel different after 40The pros and cons of ketoWhether intermittent fasting is really necessaryWhere GLP-1 medications fit into the conversationWhy carbohydrates aren’t automatically the problemThe importance of quality protein, healthy fats, produce, and fiberWhy eating enough mattersHow overly restrictive diets can backfireThe questions to ask before starting any new dietWhat a realistic, sustainable approach to eating after 40 can actually look likeThe goal isn’t to find the perfect diet you can force yourself to follow. The goal is to learn how to nourish your body in a way you can actually continue. If this episode was helpful, be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss future episodes.

151: 3 Reasons Your Body Isn't Letting Go Of Belly Fat After 40

Are you eating less than ever, but the weight still isn’t moving? In this episode, I’m talking about why belly fat after 40 can feel so stubborn, and why it’s usually not because you need more willpower, more restriction, or more cardio. Your body is not broken. It may actually be trying to protect you. After 40, weight loss can be affected by hormones, blood sugar, stress, sleep, muscle loss, under-fueling, and the way your nervous system is responding to your daily life. In this episode, I walk through 3 common reasons your body may not be letting go of belly fat: • Your blood sugar is on a roller coaster • Your nervous system never gets a break • You’re under-fueled and losing your metabolic engine We’ll talk about why cravings, 3:00 energy crashes, waking at night, belly fat, low energy, and stalled weight loss can all be clues from your body. You’ll also learn simple places to start, including adding enough protein at breakfast, using short walks to support blood sugar and stress, and focusing on adding nourishment instead of always subtracting food. The big reminder: You cannot starve or stress your way into a body that works better. Your body has to feel safe, supported, and nourished before it can start letting go.
