Westfield 2nd Family History is a podcast produced to capture the living histories of members of the Westfield 2nd Ward. Through this effort, we will build unity within the ward by getting to know the life experience and backgrounds of ward members. It will also be your opportunity to record a portion of your personal living history. Each person that records their living history through the podcast will also be given an mp3 file for their own record (or to upload on FamilySearch).

    36: Overcoming Adversity with Daniel Doria

    Join us for an inspiring episode of the Westfield Second Ward Family Podcast as we sit down with Daniel Doria. From his childhood playing competitive baseball in Redlands, California, to a professional career in tech sales, Daniel’s journey is defined by resilience and a refusal to give up. In this episode, Daniel opens up about the physical and mental hurdles that tested his faith. He shares the harrowing experience of having his initial mission to Mexico City cut short by a series of major surgeries—including shoulder, knee, and double hip reconstructions—and the four-year wait before he was finally able to return to the mission field in Florida at age 23. Daniel also discusses his academic journey at BYU, where he was diagnosed with seven learning disabilities, and how he chose to view that data as a tool for growth rather than a crutch, eventually graduating debt-free and earning an MBA from the University of Illinois.     35: Suzy Sanchez's International Faith Journey

    Suzy Sanchez is a 21-year-old pre-nursing student at BYU whose journey has taken her from the mountains near Mexico City to the scenic wilderness of Muskoka, Canada. Suzy shares how her childhood in Mexico, surrounded by family and nature, shaped her identity and why she views her younger brother as her "best friend." Listeners will find inspiration in Susy's unique path to nursing, which began when her father, a surgical nurse, took her to witness live surgeries at age 15 to see if she was "squeamish." She discusses her fascination with the human body as a perfect creation of Heavenly Father and her desire to serve others through healthcare.     It was great to sit down with Jon Griffiths for the Westfield 2nd Ward podcast, marking the show's return after a long hiatus.     Michele Shurtz has served in not only the Young Women & Relief Society presidencies here in the ward, but as Stake Relief Society president in her previous stake in Sandy! She currently serves as a family history missionary at the Family Search Center here in Lehi! Go to her with all your multi-media help! She grew up here in Utah and shares her testimony!
