Joy City

Stuart Welch

This life in Christ provides us residency in Joy City. When life's challenges, struggles and hardships seem overwhelming, we look back to the First Century Church to find strength to persevere. After they were persecuted and fled, God used them in such a way that great joy was found in that city. Come join us in this City of Joy and celebrate with us and become even stronger and healthier for the Body of Christ. Jesus spoke these words, "...I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you and that your joy may be made full." The greatest and most complete joy only has its source in the divine joy provided in following Jesus Christ.

Olisha King Discusses Suffering, Perseverance & Resilience on Joy City

Just a little over one year ago, Olisha made the decision to have total knee replacement surgery in order to alleviate the pain, discomfort and lack of mobility that was severely impacting her life. She didn't know at the moment, that decision would change the very trajectory of her life forever.  What Olisha would consider the worst day of her life is becoming one of the most developmental seasons of her life. How God is using what appeared to be a terrible experience and changing it into a new sense of calling in her life, a sensitivity to the needs of others and watching God grow her faith, confidence and trust in the Lord. Is it easy? Not at all, she describes a daily battle, the battlefield of the mind. Something I call negative soundtracks that play on repeat. However, she has found strength in her church community, support & friendship that she never could of imagined. In this episode we talk about Somatic therapy, The Body Keeps the Score and how our emotional trauma impacts our physical health and healing. Listen along as we hear Olisha's story of trial, sadness, joy & rejoicing. Valley moments, mountain high experiences have become a part of her life. If you find yourself in these moments of challenge, my prayer is you be encouraged, find a supportive church community to belong to and trust God even in your moments of uncertainty. Like Olisha, you will find God is ever present and always faithful because He loves you and all of us.  Welcome to Joy City
