    Shout Out Fight Podcast #178 "When it's not about the titles, and all about the fight! - Sandy Heilig from Chang Noi Muay Thai"

    Hello Fighty Friends! I tried getting this podcast out earlier... but I was on holidays and now trying getting this out while I sit at the Ottawa airport on my way back to Calgary. This episode I get to chat with Sandy Heilig from Chang Noi Muay Thai in New Zealand - Sandy has recently been quite popular on platforms like instagram showcasing her coaching skills and knowledge in Muay Thai, sharing her openness about mental health struggles and simply being as real as they come - which we know doesn't happen much on social media! We chat her life in Muay Thai "back in tha day" and some of the bigger moments and memories from that era. We discuss her helping pave the way for female fighters in Australia in the 90's - as well as some of the struggles for women to be able to compete regularly at the time. We also talk about her love to fight more than winning titles, and taking any opportunity that comes her way for a tilt and why? Sandy also lets us in on her gym she had running, why she had to let it go, the lessons learned, the memories gained and a change needed for HER to live better moving forward inside and outside of Muay Thai. Wether it's talking Muay Thai or life - Sandy is a real one! I love talking to the older generation and the lessons learned from their time under the Muay Thai lights. You can genuinely see Sandy is exactly as you see her online as in person - and I think this has been a huge part of her recent success, and I hope only more success comes her way - SHOUT OUT TO YOU SANDY!!

    Shout Out Fight Podcast #177 - Zach "FLASH" Flores and a highlight reel KO!"

    Hello from Kelowna fight fam! I'm on vacation currently, but still PUMPING out pods for the people! Today I talk to fighter and coach out of Pu'u Muay Thai in Ventura California Zach FLASH Flores! Zach had a big fight about 1 month ago at the COOLEST gym ever in Vegas (One Kick's Gym) and came away with a BEAUT of a KO - so, I wanted to have a chat about it!! I ask Zach to breakdown the KO for us in real time as well the fight up to the finish. We chat about his fight style he USED to have, to what he has turned it into. Of course I ask Zach who his favourite fighters are and if he had an opportunity to train with one fighter exclusively for 1 week - who would it be? I also ask Zach about why he competes and what he wants out of Muay Thai fighting? while most chase title and glory - for Zach, his titles and glory are his self respect!! Zach lets us in on how childhood trauma mixed with anger, lack of self confidence, but yet with an overwhelming feeling of needing to protect his family as a Cub, brought him to the Muay Thai life. Zach tells us that he still has to deal with those "demons" from his past - but through Muay Thai he's found purpose, drive and the competition to help scratch the itch. MORE IMPORTANTLY - in a positive, team oriented atmosphere and encouraging environment where people want to see you succeed and will champion you the whole way. THIS IS THE MARTIAL ARTS WAY! Great chat with a humble young man looking to make a name in Muay Thai for himself, as well as pass it down to the "little Zach's" of the next generation - SHOUT OUT TO YOU ZACH!!

    Shout Out Fight Podcast #176 "Bushido Fight Night on America's Birthday, LESSGOOO! - with Yuki Yamanaka"

    Hello Friends! It's almost Canada Day which means it's almost America's birthday which means it's time for BUSHIDO 5 - LIVE MUAY THAI FIGHT NIGHT in Kemptville Ontario, presented by Boss Thaiboxing!! 2 title fights - one Canada vs the USA North American title fight and a fantastic undercard to match! Today I chat with the Captain of Boss Thaiboxing and Bushido - Yuki Yamanaka! Yuki was recently on the podcast talking shop, but today it was about Bushido 5! I ask Yuki the general ins and outs like the stress of the preparation of course, but I also wanted to know what fights he AND we need to keep an eye out for, What Yuki himself gets out of running an event and what those in attendance can expect come show time - DOOD! EACH TEAM HAS ITS OWN ROOM!! - but this is not a surprise when you are working with someone like Yuki and Boss Thaiboxing!     Shout Out Fight Podcast #175 "North America's hottest free agent - Jake Peacock!"

    Hello Fight Fam! Happy summer! Today I got to sit down with the human highlight reel - Jake Peacock! Jake recently become a free agent in the combat sports world with his departure from One Championship - which really was a surprise for followers and fans alike, as Jake was a crowd favourite and clearly liked by One from how often he was featured on their social media. Which lead to the question - WHAT HAPPENED?! Jake breaks down why his stint with One came to an end, for now - the MASSIVE amount of opportunities coming his way only hours after the announcement and where he would like to fight in the not too distant future. We also talk about the Wasylak VS Aiulu rematch and how Jake saw the fight going the first time, as well as what needs to be adjusted for the next scrap August in Australia. AND - we kick the podcast off with a story of something that happened to me for the first time ever as a martial arts instructor or gym owner - BE SURE TO LISTEN!! fighters need to fight and Jake is a fighter - I am happy to hear the opportunities are endless and look forward to see more of him fighting around the planet!     Shout Out Podcast #174 " Happy Father's Day! - surprise podcast with Chris McMillan!"

    Hello again friends!! HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL THE POP'S OUT THERE!!! So - the last few podcasts have had a few issues and I was getting frustrated and losing confidence in the program I use... I went to zoom and found the same issue, so I started to suspect it was my computer. After hours of trying to fix the issue, I needed a 45 mins test, so I asked on the 'Gram if anyone had 45 mins to spare to help lil ol me - AND FORMER CO-HOST CHRIS MCMILLAN ANSWERED THE CALL!! Since it was Chris, why not take a minute to talk shop and make a lil pod out of it! - OF COURSE the big buzz around here was the release of Jake Peacock from One - I wanted to hear about the pros and cons from his point of view, What is next for North America's hottest Muay Thai free agent, Quinn gearing up for his big rematch in Australia, and - is the Calgary fight scene too saturated? LET'S TALK ABOUT IT! I appreciate Chris for answering the call and taking up 45 mins of his day for me AND US! SHOUT OUT TO YOU CHRIS!

    Shout Out Fight Podcast #173 "The man who never said no - Jason Woodham from the Muay Thai Muppets!"

    Hello Fight Fans! Welcome back to another episode! Today I got the opportunity to chat with someone we are all familiar with be it from inside the ring fighting to the LIFESTYLE/MOVEMENT that's known as the Muay Thai Muppets and everything in between in the Thaiboxing scene. I saw Jason initially around 07 - 09 in Thailand.... can't remember.. anyway, a little time after that I recognized his name on a Frank Lee fight poster in Edmonton that one of my fighters was on. since then I have been following the journey! I did see he came off a podcast not long ago talking about his background, so I didn't want to really get into it again. So we got right into from how the fight in Edmonton came about, why he's known as the "fight any man, anywhere, any weight" (Andy Howson) kind of fighter, some of his biggest fights against world champions, when he knew it was time to hang up the gloves and how he went from the UK to Dubai. ONCE AGAIN - it's so cool to be able to sit and have a chat with people you have been following for years and hearing the war stories. Their's nothing like Muay Thai!! SHOUT OUT TO YOU JASON!

    Global Muay Thai Round Table - with Jonathan Pu'u, Joe Comerford and yours truly!

    Hello again fight fam! Something a little different today! after speaking with Jonathan, he had the idea of us three getting together on a podcast and talking about the scene where we are, the scene globally and simply talking shop with Muay Thai nerds doing similar things online. These are a couple chaps I really pay attention to online and look up to them in the Muay Thai media space! right off the bat we talk about if Muay Thai is growing, but is it growing for the better?.. we also talk about our own opinions on Muay Thai in the olympics and if we would like to see it happen? and we also chat about what we have going on in our lives in different areas of the world. This was our 1st time doing this and we certainly plan to do more! These guys are deep into Muay Thai where they are located and they know what they are talking about!! I'm grateful they want to work with the Shout Out Podcast and I'm really excited to see this turn into something!!
