    Self-Criticism: Why We Do it and How We Can Work Through it

    Why You Need To Value, Honour & Respect Yourself

    In today's episode, we discuss the importance of respecting who we are, our values, what is important to us and why we need to do this for ourselves. By recognising our values and actively practicing them, we set a standard for how we treat ourselves and how others can meet us. We are taught to seek validation externally, but this must come from within - if we don't honour what we need we teach ourselves we are not worthy of respect.     Introduction to Exploring Mental Health in the South Asian Community

    This introduction episode touches upon a topic which is close to my own experience and many of a South Asian background. In the past and still now, it has been hard for us to talk about our mental health, to articulate it, understand its impact, and how experiences have impacted who we are today - combining two cultures and finding what our individual truth is, actually being able to safely talk about mental health, and support ourselves and our parents/elders in their own experience. Being seen as 'weak' has limited being able to openly discuss mental health, however more recently, with the education available, we can begin to explore how we can connect to our mental health and release stigmas in the community, to allow deeper connections to mind and acknowledging the impact mental health can have on our general being and life. Self Discipline is a skill and tool which allows us to connect to why we are implementing changes and how we can commit to them with consistency and care, for the bigger picture.
