    S3E8: Blake Berglund - Singer-Songwriter

    In this season 3 finale episode, I chatted with multi-talented Saskatchewan singer-songwriter Blake Berglund.  Blake may have emerged on my radar a short time ago however, he’s been involved in the music industry in one form or the other for many years. When I think of Blake Berglund, many things come to mind. He is a singer-songwriter, performer, writer, entrepreneur…. the list goes on and on….  Blake’s creative adventures represent the broad spectrum of what I think today’s artist needs to be successful…. The ability to adapt to the ever changing conditions across the music landscape with numerous proverbial muscles to flex in their toolkit depending on the situation.   We discussed Blake’s journey into writing and penning great songs and stories, how he navigates his creative tendencies, the chronology behind his music discography and what he is cooking up for 2023.     In this week's episode, I chat with the very talented Jason Kirkness from Manitoba, Canada. If you are a fan of Canadian country music, you will be very familiar with Jason Kirkness. Between the touring, performing and recording, Jason has established himself as one of the mainstays across the country music landscape, and recent chart topping success has fueled his fire to bring even more great music to a broader audience in the future. We covered a lot of ground in the interview, from how he started playing music, the stories behind some of his banger tunes, how he defines the musician "grind" and what he pursues as a hobby to recharge his creative juices when he's not making music.     In this episode of the Prairie Town Basement Sessions, I speak with Saskatchewan singer-songwriter Berk Jodoin. Berk just recently was named Indigenous Artist of the Year at the 2022 Saskatchewan Music Awards and is clearly an artist on the rise.  We discussed how his life experiences have influenced his songwriting, the need to be honest and genuine when performing, and how he ensures that his family is integrated into his musical journey. It should also be noted that his daughter Milly joined us for the interview, who also happens to be the bass player in his band. It was a great conversation that I hope you will enjoy!!
