The I AM Podcast is all about sharing the diverse stories of students at Boise State. Our purpose is to share those stories that are not heard often. Stories that tell of resilience, personal challenges and struggles, accomplishing goals, and personal growth — stories that deserve to be recognized. We want to use I AM as a platform to let students know that they are heard. We want to showcase students’ stories to impact and inspire others.     Resilience is a noun that stands for the ability to recover from failure or difficulty. Ulises along with his story of resilience, respect, and drive are what resilience stands for. From growing up in Mexico to growing up in a farmworker family, mental and physical struggles, and now choosing what full-ride Ph.D. program to choose from Ulises has shown great resilience and is here to share his experiences and wisdom with us all.

    Episode 3: Grace with Melanie Figueroa Zavala

    Melanie shares her life experiences and how she came to learn about "Grace". She relates her story of growing up surrounded by poverty and difficult life situations, with strong sibling tension, moving to the U.S., and adapting to a new culture. Melanie shares how she learned to give herself grace and forgiveness for standing on the side of privilege. In effect to her experiences, Melanie advocates for giving yourself grace through self-understanding as she believes this is the first step to genuine kindness.

    Episode 2: Empowerment with Angel Venegas

    Throughout his different experiences, Angel talks to us about how his story has impacted the way he takes on the word "Empowerment". Having to grow up looking after his younger brother, coming to the US with no English knowledge, and having to take on a completely new environment to his family such as school, he talks to us about how he has failed to and had a lack of empowerment. Because of these experiences, he aims to empower others whenever he has a chance to. Believing that the young generations are not only the future of the world, but they are the present as well.
