    Tom Oswald (Homeboy Café): This Adelaide Hills coffee shop went viral

    When 18-year-old, Tom Oswald, opened Homeboy Café on Hahndorf’s main street, he thought customers would wander in. But with 10 cafes in town, he had to get creative – so he turned to TikTok. His first video, honestly sharing how he had no customers, went viral. 32 videos later, Tom’s become a TikTok sensation, gaining 75,000+ followers in a few months and local fans who come in to support him.  In this episode, Tom shares the power of using social media to get the attention from local and national media, the importance of a good product, and why customer loyalty must be earned.     Marc Voortman (Mount Barker District Council): On creating ‘one’ Mount Barker, not old vs. new

    After 17 years at Mount Barker District Council, Marc Voortman, the General Manager of Planning and Community, is committed to unifying the town with one vision – not ‘old’ vs. ‘new’ Mount Barker.  With approximately 1,000 new residents per year and only 20% through Mount Barker’s 30-year planned growth, uniting the communities will become critical to Mount Barker’s culture.  Marc believes – while growth isn’t inherently bad for the Hills – what’s important is servicing growth with the right infrastructure and community involvement.
