    Episode 32 - Big Brothers, Big Sisters

In this episode, Violet talks with Corey Dupree about the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program and the importance of mentorship. Currently, Corey serves as the Vice President of Community and Culture for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA. In this role, he develops and implements initiatives to amplify youth voice, and leading strategic planning across all organizational operations, ensuring impactful outcomes. Corey attributes much of his passion for mentorship and education to his 27+ year relationship with his own Big Brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters, Todd, who continues to inspire him to give back. As a devoted father to two children, Mariah and Corey II, Corey is deeply committed to serving underserved communities. His personal experiences, coupled with his volunteer work with grassroots organizations, fuel his mission to create pathways for success and opportunity for the next generation. In this episode, Brian talks with Journey Henderson about how feelings and experience grief is different for everyone. Journey Henderson is a licensed minister of the Brethren in Christ Denomination located in Lebanon, PA. Currently, Journey serves both as a Chaplain with VNA Homecare and Hospice and a Missionary/Pastor with the Holy District in Lebanon City. He has served in his both of his current roles for 2 years and has been serving in ministry for the last 8 years. Prior to serving in his current roles, Journey has served two different churches as a Youth and Young Adult Pastor. Journey holds a Master’s of Divinity from Lancaster Bible College as well as a Master’s in Interdisciplinary Studies and Bachelor’s in Education from Liberty University. Journey has been married to his wife Lindsay for 12 years and they have two daughters together, Sadie, 8 and Macie, 5.     Episode 30 - The PAUSE Program

    Welcome to Central York Middle School’s official Aevidum Club podcast! Our school is located in York, Pennsylvania and we have a very active Aevidum club. This podcast series will be student-created and student-run and will help to offer insight on mental health awareness and suicide prevention, as well as, what goes into creating community within a school setting. In this episode, Emily talks with Autumn Buchsenschutz about her work with the PAUSE Program and what it is. Autumn Buchsenschutz joined NAMI York-Adams back in March 2025 from New York. Previously, as a Coalition Coordinator and a Prevention Specialist, she worked within schools and the community to educate about substance use prevention and increase the prevalence of harm reduction programs. Autumn led the efforts in starting the CHANGE Coalition in Niagara Falls, NY, where they worked to expand community resource accessibility for substance abuse and mental health conditions. In her current role with NAMI York-Adams as the PAUSE Coordinator, she coordinates and manages the yearly PAUSE school meeting schedule, oversees data and reporting from youth groups across multiple schools, and helps ensure that each PAUSE session is staffed, supported, and impactful. Autumn works closely with the facilitators to maintain training and weekly coverage with groups, as well as takes an active role in co-facilitating in-school youth groups, bringing both professional training and personal lived experience to the conversations.  Outside of the school groups, she works to support outreach efforts such as school events, health fairs, and community activities that promote mental health awareness. Autumn, along with other staff members, participates regularly in NAMI program trainings, peer advisory committees, and statewide or national events to ensure the PAUSE program continues to grow and reflect best practices.  She is passionate about mental health advocacy, especially for youth, and  brings a deep commitment to the mission of NAMIYA and PAUSE to reduce the stigma around mental health. In this episode, Violet and Danielle have a discussion with Kirstin Einsig about the teen substance abuse and how this can influence mental health. Kirstin Einsig was born and raised in York County and is passionate about making a positive impact in her community.  She currently serves as the Community Engagement Specialist and Collective Impact Coordinator for the York Opioid Collaborative.  Kirstin brings five years of experience from roles within substance use disorder treatment, giving her a strong foundation in treatment systems, Medication-Assisted Treatment, criminal justice, and human services. As someone in long-term recovery, Kirstin uses her lived experience to advocate for collaboration and meaningful change.  Outside of work, she is a proud mom to a teenage daughter and enjoys concerts and live stand-up comedy.  Her commitment to community wellness is fueled by the belief that working together is key to creating lasting impact. In this episode, Ella and Alyssa have a discussion with Nicole Gray about the great work that she is doing in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania with the Community Health Council. Nikki Gray is an accomplished leader in community health, public health strategy, and corporate wellness with over 15 years of experience. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Community Health Council of Lebanon County, In this role, she leads strategic planning, sustainability, program evaluation, and media planning efforts within the Health Council’s 11 initiatives and 10 events. Embedded within WellSpan Health's Community Health and Engagement Team, her experience also extends into corporate healthcare and population health.  Her contributions have earned her accolades, including the Community Builder Award from the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Community Excellence Award from the Lebanon County Council of Human Services. In addition to her role with the Health Council, Nikki serves on the board of Lebanon County Community Action Partnership and serves as a team lead for the State Health Improvement Plan. Outside her professional achievements, Nicole is passionate about her family, her dogs and the outdoors.     Episode 26 - Mental Health Awareness

This podcast series will be student-created and student-run and will help to offer insight on mental health awareness and suicide prevention, as well as, what goes into creating community within a school setting. In this episode, Violet talks with Dr. Salter about mental health awareness and well-being. Dr. Salter is a Family Physician and has been practicing inpatient and outpatient medicine at WellSpan Family Medicine – Hayshire of WellSpan Health (WSH) since 1999.  He earned his Medical Degree at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA, followed by his Family Medicine Residency at WellSpan York Hospital.  From 2015-2023, he served as Medical Director within the WellSpan Medical Group (WMG), and he now serves as the Medical Director for Wellbeing, co-leading the WSH system-wide wellbeing strategy with his colleague, Dr Michael Diller.  Since 2018, he has chaired the WMG Physician and APP Wellbeing Council, where he spearheaded the efforts that achieved the AMA Joy in Medicine Gold Level Recognition in 2025, one of just 21 Health Systems in the country to do so.   It is in this wellbeing work that Dr. Salter has found his passion, working to eliminate burnout at WSH so that his colleagues don’t have to experience the burnout he experienced in the early 2010s and can achieve professional fulfillment in serving their patients and communities.   Follow our Aevidum Club on Instagram at @cyms_aevidum and if you like our podcast, please leave a review or comment so that others can find this important resource!     Episode 25 - Get Outdoors Program and Green Space

This podcast series will be student-created and student-run and will help to offer insight on mental health awareness and suicide prevention, as well as, what goes into creating community within a school setting. In this episode, Sarah and Brian talk with Sandy Glatfelter and Paula Gilbert about the York County Library System's Get Outdoors Summer Program and the importance of green space to improve mental health. Sandy Gladfelter - Lead Coordinator – Community Health & Wellness Sandy has a Bachelor of Science degree from Lock Haven University in Health and Physical Education and a Master of Science degree from Slippery Rock University in Sports Management. She has spent her entire professional life educating and engaging individuals of all ages to lead healthy lives. During this time, she held positions at the YWCA York, Susan P. Byrnes Health Education Center, and U-Gro Learning Centers, where she developed and instructed 3, 4- and 5-year-old children in the active world of fitness through fun and engaging lessons. Upon joining WellSpan Health, she started out as a Tobacco Cessation Coordinator, then moved to a Health Educator. As the Coordinator – Health Education, Sandy oversees health education programming throughout the WellSpan Health regions. Sandy enjoys helping others find their motivation for wanting to be healthier and see the spark in their eyes as they achieve their goals. She enjoys spending time with her daughter, as well as hiking, playing disc golf, reading, and making people laugh. Paula Gilbert Paula Gilbert was the Director of Youth Services for York County Libraries until 2021 and then again from 2022-2023. She is currently a consultant for the library system, working on special projects. She received her master's degree in library science from the University of Michigan and has worked in the York community since 1982 serving children of all ages. Mrs. Gilbert has served on various boards in York County including York Association for the Education of Young Children, Healthy York Leadership Council, Advisory Council for Head Start and Early Head Start of York, and the Pennsylvania Humanities Council on the state level.  She has also served the Pennsylvania Library Association as President and has held several other offices. Paula has been recognized for her work with children locally.  She has received the MLK Image Award, The Children’s Champion Award from YAAEC, the Rising Star Hero from Crispus Attucks, the Spirit of Youth Award from Central York Communities that Care and the Community Building Award from United Way.  The Pennsylvania Library Association has also awarded Paula the Distinguished Service Award- the highest honor the Association gives annually. Mrs. Gilbert is currently serving as the chairman of the board for Positive Energy Arts. Paula has a passion for young learners and the GO York program.  The Library System has been a partner with WellSpan since 2008 in this program and we are excited for our 19th year to begin in June!
