When Fear Disguises Itself as Logic | Jane Bond on Self-Trust, Reinvention & Starting Again

Send us Fan Mail This conversation wasn't supposed to begin this way - but maybe that's exactly why it became so powerful.   What started as a casual pre-show conversation between two women quickly turned into one of the most candid and vulnerable conversations I've ever shared on the Ageless Glamour Girls™ Podcast.   When I started recording, I had no idea that somehow, we were also LIVE. Yes. LIVE. And apparently, my guest noticed before I did! By the time I realized what was happening, we were already about 11 or 12 minutes into some REALLY good stuff. She said, “This is all the good stuff!” And she was right. So, we kept going. And I'm so glad we did.   My guest, Jane Bond, is an Identity Strategist, Reinvention Coach, Realtor, host of the Unpack Your Life Podcast, and creator of the Identity Rebuild App. Together, we get REAL about fear, self-doubt, regret, people-pleasing, ambition, exhaustion, and what happens when the life you've built no longer feels quite like the life you want. Jane explains why fear can be so difficult to recognize - sometimes it doesn't look like fear at all. It looks practical. Responsible. Logical.   And that hit home for me. Jane and I actually met several years ago when her office was in the same building as my husband's. At one point, she offered me an opportunity to enter the real estate business. I wanted to do it, but I had plenty of perfectly reasonable reasons for saying no. Looking back, however, I can see that fear and a lack of self-trust played a much bigger role in my decision than I realized at the time. We also talk about the difference between confidence and self-trust, why failure is simply “data,” the pressure so many women feel to keep performing and producing, and why reinvention isn't necessarily about becoming someone new. Sometimes it's about returning to who you were all along.                                           Jane also shares her five-step identity framework and introduces the Identity Rebuild App, designed to help people examine the identities they've carried, let go of what no longer serves them, and intentionally move forward.    Luvvies, this one is raw. It's funny. It's vulnerable. And yes - at times, it gets VERY real. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we enjoyed having it.    CHEERS to Healthy Aging and Joyful Living, Luvvies! ________________________ ABOUT JANE BOND:  Identity Strategist | Speaker | Host I’m Jane Bond, a high-level coach and strategist for people who are successful on the outside but know, deep down, that something needs to shift. Many midlife women aren’t lacking motivation — they’re navigating seasons where what once worked no longer fits. I help them move out of the start-over cycle and rebuild strength, clarity, and confidence with realistic fitness, nutrition, and mindset strategies that support real life. Many midlife women aren’t lacking motivation—they’re navigating a season where what once worked no longer fits. I help women move out of the start-over cycle and rebuild strength, energy, and confidence with realistic fitness, nutrition, and mindset strategies that support real life. I know what it feels like to juggle work, motherhood, and identity while wondering if you’ll ever feel like yourself again. At one point, I was a single mom raising two kids on $300 a month, working long hours and trying to hold everything together. Fitness became my lifeline — the one thing that helped me feel strong, resilient, and hopeful when life felt heavy. Over the past 35+ years, that lifeline became my mission. I’ve helped thousands of midlife women move out of the start-over cycle and find an approach that finally works for their body and their life. That work is what led me to write Pursue Your Spark, now an award-winning guide for midlife women ready to move forward again. It's Never Too Late: Renee Connell on Dreams, Reinvention & Taking Center Stage After 60

Send us Fan Mail Forty-one “temporary” years. One dream she never let go. And now? Renee Connell says it’s her turn. The longtime singer - who toured with Kool & the Gang as a teenager - is now acting, auditioning, studying screenwriting, performing, and proving that the dreams we put on hold don’t have to stay there. Throughout a 41-year corporate career, raising a family and navigating life’s responsibilities, Renee never completely gave up the part of herself that loved music. Her advice to other women? Always keep “a slice of your life” for yourself. Now retired from corporate life, Renee is busier than ever. She’s singing, acting, auditioning, learning new skills, and performing as the lead singer of LaPreme, a tribute to Diana Ross & The Supremes. And yes, she sometimes walks into auditions as the oldest woman in the room. She shows up anyway. In this inspiring and very personal conversation on the Ageless Glamour Girls™ Podcast, Renee shares:  How she kept her dreams alive throughout a 41-year career  What it was like singing and touring with Kool & the Gang as a teenager  Why every woman should keep a “slice” of her life for herself  Why being the oldest woman in the room doesn’t intimidate her  How taking one step can lead to opportunities you never imagined  The joy she’s finding in music, acting and her next chapter  Her thoughts on music then and now - and AI’s growing influence  Her very relatable menopause journey  Why it’s never too late to pursue the dream you’ve been putting off And fair warning: Renee’s message about getting older, taking chances, and refusing to believe it’s too late became so powerful that she brought host Marqueeta Curtis-Haynes to tears - a first on the Ageless Glamour Girls™ Podcast. As Renee reminds us: “There is a space for you.” You just have to be willing to show up. Stay Bold. Stay Beautiful. Stay Brilliant. CHEERS to Healthy Aging and Joyful Living, Luvvies! ************************ ABOUT OUR GUEST:  Renee Connell - Actress/ Singer/ Writer                                                                      Renee is an actress, singer, writer, and lifelong performer whose career is proof that it's never too late to pursue the dreams that never leave your heart. As a teenager, Renee toured professionally with Kool & the Gang before building a successful 41-year corporate career - all while continuing to nurture her passion for music and the performing arts. Today, she's embracing her next chapter with renewed purpose, performing as the lead singer of LaPreme, a tribute to Diana Ross & The Supremes, while also pursuing acting, screenwriting and new creative opportunities. A member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors' Equity Association (AEA), and BMI, Renee has appeared in Power Book III: Raising Kanan (STARZ) and Let the Right One In (Showtime). Don't Be Invisible to Yourself | Jo Blackwell on Self-Ageism, Confidence & Aging Well

Send us Fan Mail Are you holding yourself back because of your age... without even realizing it? Growing older isn't the problem. The stories we've been told about growing older might be. In this inspiring conversation, Marqueeta Curtis-Haynes welcomes author, podcaster, and Midlife & Beyond creator Jo Blackwell for an honest discussion about self-ageism, reinvention, confidence, and why our later years may hold more possibility than we've been led to believe. In this uplifting and thought-provoking conversation, Marqueeta Curtis-Haynes welcomes author, podcaster, and Midlife & Beyond creator Jo Blackwell for a powerful discussion about self-ageism, reinvention, confidence, and embracing the incredible opportunities that come with growing older. After losing herself during perimenopause and navigating anxiety, depression, and major life changes, Jo discovered that midlife wasn't the end of her story—it was the beginning of an entirely new chapter. Today, she's helping women around the world challenge outdated beliefs about aging and embrace a future filled with purpose, possibility, and joy. Together, Marqueeta and Jo discuss: • What self-ageism is, and how it quietly shapes our lives • Why so many women feel invisible after 50 • The surprising "good news" about growing older • Why it's never too late to start over • The difference between reinventing yourself and becoming more of who you truly are • The importance of community, curiosity, and letting go • How changing the way we think about aging can change the way we live If you've ever wondered whether your best years are behind you, this conversation will leave you feeling hopeful, empowered, and ready to embrace what's next. At Ageless Glamour Girls™, we believe growing older isn't about becoming less - but about becoming more. **********************  From the Desk of Jo Blackwell: I write about the stories we carry, and how they shape the way we experience midlife and growing older.   I’ve always been interested in stories: those that are true, those we are told, and those we tell ourselves. In ancient cultures, storytellers were entrusted with remembering and retelling the stories of the people - helping individuals and communities make sense of who they were, where they came from, and what mattered.   I still believe that role matters. Being seen and heard can be as powerful as being loved. Taking the time to truly listen to another human being is a quiet, radical act, and one that feels increasingly necessary in an emotionally disconnected world   Over my lifetime, I’ve spent a great deal of time unpicking my own stories in search of truth and meaning. It has been a long, sometimes painful, but ultimately deeply fulfilling process. As I’ve grown older, I’ve found myself arriving, occasionally, at a place that feels like peace.   My working life has always revolved around stories:                                                       • As a brand photographer, I helped entrepreneurs tell their stories more clearly, so they could attract clients aligned with who they really were.                                    • Through one-to-one coaching, I supported women in midlife to question the stories holding them back and to begin shaping new ones that reflected who they were becoming.                                                                                                                       • Today, I write about the culture of ageing, and in my fiction, women in midlife and beyond are very often at the heart of the story.                                                                                                                                                                                               Alongside this work, I’ve been married for more than four decades. We have four children, four children-in-law, and ten grandchildren. They are my greatest blessing, and together, they form the most meaningful story of my life.  ***********************  CONNECT WITH JO: *Book: Ageing Wonderfully Well: The Good News about Midlife and Growing Older:  https://geni.us/AgeingWonderfullyWell *Website: https://www.joblackwell.co.uk/  *YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@JoBlackwell-MidlifeAndBeyond *Substack: https://joblackwellmidlifeandbeyond.substack.com  *IG:  @joblackwell_midlifeandbeyond         Support the show Support Ageless Glamour Girls™: www.agelessglamourgirls.com        www.linkedin.com/in/marqueetacurtishaynes       https://www.youtube.com/@agelessglamourgirls      https://agelessglamourgirlsboutique.com/Instagram @agelessglamourgirlsFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/agelessglamourgirlsPrivate (AGG) FB Group: The Ageless Café: https://www.facebook.com/groups/theagelesscafeTikTok: @agelessglamourgirlshttps://www.shopltk.com/explore/AgelessGlamourGirls Podcast Producers: Ageless Glamour Girls™ and Purple Tulip Media, LLC

The Hidden Side of Retirement: Identity, Purpose, and Life After the Career Ends

Send us Fan Mail You can spend decades preparing financially for retirement... and still find yourself completely unprepared for what comes next. So why do so many women feel a little lost once their careers end? We're revisiting one of our most thought-provoking conversations in this encore episode of the Ageless Glamour Girls™ Podcast. Host Marqueeta Curtis-Haynes sits down with Cheryl Fimbel, author of The Hidden Side of Retirement: What Nobody Tells You About Identity, Purpose, and Life After Your Career Ends, for an honest conversation about one of life's biggest transitions. Originally released in April 2026, this episode remains just as timely and relevant for anyone approaching retirement - or already navigating this important season of life. After a 45-year career in healthcare leadership, Cheryl entered retirement financially prepared - but emotionally caught off guard. Together, Marqueeta and Cheryl unpack the unexpected challenges that often accompany retirement, from the loss of identity and routine to redefining purpose and rebuilding meaningful connections. Cheryl also shares why the first 90 days matter, how to avoid rushing into reinvention, and practical ways to begin building a meaningful and fulfilling next chapter. Most importantly, she reminds us of something we all need to hear: "You are not broken. You're in transition." And yes - we also celebrate the joys of retirement: more freedom, more time with the people you love, new adventures, and the opportunity to create a life that's truly your own. Whether retirement is years away, just around the corner, or already part of your story, this conversation offers practical wisdom, reassurance, and hope for the journey ahead. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN • Why retirement is as much an emotional transition as a financial one • Why so many women experience identity loss after leaving a long career • What really happens during the first 90 days - and why it matters • Why feeling lost doesn't mean you're broken • Practical ways to rebuild purpose, structure, and social connection • How to embrace this next season with confidence and intention ********************** ABOUT OUR GUEST Cheryl Fimbel is the author of The Hidden Side of Retirement: What Nobody Tells You About Identity, Purpose, and Life After Your Career Ends. I’ve been podcasting for 7 years and have produced 6 podcasts, and I love helping indie creators solve the stuff that all podcasters face: inconsistent content creation, lack of listener engagement, and monetization that feels out of reach. My approach is friendly and grounded in real workflows, examples from my own personal mistakes, and strategies that work even when you don’t have a big team. I’ve spoken at Podcast Movement on monetization strategy (“Sponsorships, Subscriptions, or Support? Choose the Right Monetization Strategy for Your Podcast”), and on how indie podcasters can rival the pros through smart branding, marketing, and monetizing. I also taught PodConf’s “Pitch Your Podcast!” session on landing sponsorships without sounding salesy, including cold email tips and templates.
