This is Bill Kelley. Please join me as we hear the word's of Solomon - who many people consider the wisest man who ever lived. We will go over the proverb of the day every day and I will pick a verse (or several) and expound on them. I am believing that, by hearing the wisdom of Solomon, we will become wiser and our lives will begin to improve - as we follow what the word tells us to do.

    386. Do Not go Hastily to Court - September 25, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 25. I will then key in on verses 8-10: Do not go hastily to court; For what will you do in the end, When your neighbor has put you to shame? Debate your case with your neighbor, And do not disclose the secret to another; Lest he who hears it expose your shame, And your reputation be ruined. Friends, we live in a time in our world today where people have so little tolerance of anyone different from them and people take offense at the slightest thing. I am going to go over several scriptures today which hopefully will convince you that there is another way: 1. 1 Peter 4:7-8 2. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 3. Luke 23: 32-34 4. John 13: 33-35 5. Hebrews 10: 12-14 These verses tell us we should overlook petty sins that people commit against us; we go over the definition of love and how we know whether love is present in a certain situation, or not. We go over Jesus on the cross asking God to forgive the people who have wronged Him and put Him on the cross. We then look at Jesus's new command that He give us today - that we will be known as disciples if we have love one for another. Finally, we close with the fact that by dying on the cross, all of our sins have been forgiven for all time. Because of what He did on the cross for us, we should be quick to forgive. I will then review our verses of the day: Proverb 25:verses 8-10. Call to action: 1. Ask God to bring to your remembrance any person that you need to forgive for anything they have done against you; 2. Ask God to bring to your remembrance whether you have wronged anyone and whether there is anyone you need to ask forgiveness from. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread today's proverb, Proverb 25; 2. Review and meditate on the scriptures we have reviewed today.

    384. Your Work is Your Ministry - #6 (Recap) - September 21, 2023

Welcome to Wisdom Today with Bill Kelley. Today we will be going over Proverb 21. I will then key in on verse 5 - The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty; But those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty. I will begin today's podcast by reading the commentary in my Bible (the Nelson Study Bible) for this verse. I will then review several things: 1. If you do not enjoy going to work, the first thing you should do is go to God in prayer and ask Him if this is the job that He would like for you to be in 2. The most important thing is life is to have a good relationship with God and that you have established a habit of going to Him in prayer whenever you have a need - Everything in life we do comes out of the relationship you have with the Father 3. If you do not like going to work because you do not like the job that you do -a. ask your immediate supervisor if there are any alternative jobs at your company that you might be better suited for; b. ask if there are any classes that you could possible take to gain more skills and thus qualify for a higher-paying job; c. change your attitude about the present job you do and do Colossians 3: 23 - do everything heartily as unto the Lord 4. If you do not like some of the people that you work with, remember that God loves every single one of us, and that if God loves someone, so should we; again you may need to change your attitude about that certain "sandpaper" person (if you didn't listen to yesterday's message, please check it out). 5. I will review today's verse - Proverb 21: verse 5 which says that plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty. Friends, if you don't enjoy going to your job (for whatever reason) you have to plan to change some of the things you are currently doing as far as your job are concerned. 6. Two things that you should never do - if you don't like your job, begin drinking (such as having a couple of drinks during your lunch hour). Nothing good will ever come out of that. Second, if you do not like your job NEVER quite out of frustration or anger prior to getting another job. Suggested scripture reading: 1. Reread the proverb of the day, Proverb 21 today; read Proverb 22 tomorrow, and Proverb 23 on Sunday.
