S2,Ep1: SHRINK THE BOX: The hidden story behind Frasier Crane (Frasier)
Where does Frasier’s snobbery originate from? Why does he revert to his ‘child state’ when around his father? And... the hidden story behind Frasier being a Freudian analyst and Niles (his brother) being a Jungian analyst.
Plus, Ben and Nemone’s minds are blown when they realise a crazy coincidence with Frasier and Tony Soprano.

More Josh O’Connor, Red Herring, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Baby Reindeer, Best Stunt Performances & Question Schmestions
Josh O’Connor and Simon’s chat was so good that we had to include more of it in Take 2 – you're welcome!
Mark espouses his critical wisdom on ‘Red Herring’, an autobiographical documentary, which sees filmmaker Kit Vincent faced with a terminal diagnosis, leading him to enlist his family on an intimate and darkly funny journey to help them come to terms with his illness; ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’, the (chronologically) first instalment of George Lucas’ legendary sci-fi saga, which follows the first fateful steps in the journey of Anakin Skywalker; and ‘Baby Reindeer’, the unexpected smash hit Netflix series which is based on writer and comedian Richard Gadd’s real-life experience of being stalked and sexually assaulted in his twenties.
This week’s One Frame Back is the best stunt performances to coincide with the release of ‘The Fall Guy’.
Our bespectacled duo help us decide what to watch, and what to avoid, this weekend.
Plus, they answer a few of your Questions (film-related) and Schmestions (non-film related), from what happens when a director realises that an actor has been hopelessly miscast to the popular consumer products they think are giant rip-offs.

Josh O’Connor, La Chimera, Love Lies Bleeding, The Idea of You & The Fall Guy
This week, man of the moment Josh O’Connor is in the studio to chat to Simon about his leading role in ‘La Chimera’, Italian auteur Alice Rohrwacher’s period fantasy drama about a British archaeologist who becomes involved in an international network of stolen Etruscan artifacts during the 1980s.
Mark gives his take on various new releases including ‘Love Lies Bleeding’, the latest offering from Kermode fave Rose Glass, which sees Kristen Stewart play a reclusive gym manager who falls for an ambitious bodybuilder only for the pair to become embroiled in the former’s violent criminal family; and ‘The Idea of You’, an Anne Hathaway-starring romcom that sees a 40-year-old single mum begin an unexpected romance with the 24-year-old leader singer of the biggest boy band on the planet.
The big review of the week is 'The Fall Guy’, a Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt-starring action comedy, which sees a battle-scarred stuntman spring back into action when the star of a big studio movie suddenly and mysteriously disappears.

Ordinary Angels, Boy Kills World, I.S.S., Challengers & The American Society of Magical Negroes
This week there’s no guest, but lots more witterings from the good doctors to make up for it.
Mark gives his take on a swathe of new films, including ‘Ordinary Angels’, a Hilary Swank-starring emotional drama about a hairdresser who rallies an entire community to help a widowed father get his critically ill youngest daughter a liver transplant; ‘Boy Kills World’, an action thriller about a martial arts expert who goes on a campaign of vengeance after he is rendered deaf-mute by an attack that killed his entire family; ‘I.S.S.’, a science fiction thriller, which sees tensions flare aboard the International Space Station when a worldwide conflict breaks out on earth; and ‘Challengers’, Luca Guadagnino’s latest, which sees Zendaya star as a former-tennis-prodigy-turned-coach who transforms her husband into a world-famous grand slam champion only to become embroiled in a love triangle when he competes against his former best friend – and her former lover.
The big review of the week is ‘The American Society of Magical Negroes’, a comedy-drama, which sees a young man join a clandestine group of magical African Americans committed to enhancing the lives of white individuals, satirising the Magical Negro trope.

Customer Reviews
Hello to Jason
Is it about film reviews or just two middle age guys bantering?
Entertaining, many inside jokes over time have developed
Worthy to listen to as a female smoking cigars, back in clergy corner or during a gym
Workout .
They cover movies , mark has a bent toward Horror and documentaries. But he’s realistic that other opinions are available. Simon is a career deejay who is an excellent interviewer of stars. Being the top UK movie show they get all the A list celebrities pushing their movies.
See you on the cruise next year to Leeds
Sort out tech problems
I love Mark and Simon.
But why is Take the only podcast out of dozens I listen to that consistently fails to play after pausing, says it’s playing but then crashes, or says it’s playing but nothing can be heard? This happens at least once a month. The hassle has knocked the show out of my top 5! Please fix it.
Not what it was
I know, I know. Everyone needs to make a buck, but as a LTL of over 15 years, the show feels like it has been gutted in order to drive listeners towards a subscription.
I understand the idea of doing deep dives and extended interviews in the bonus episodes. Even reviews of more obscure releases, but when the review of a mainstream movie like Wish is shoved behind the paywall, it’s probably time to go.
The Beeb show was top of my list to listen to as soon as it came in. This is a shadow of its former self with over a month of unplayed episodes on my phone.
