We’re fed this lie that being a mom means we have a messy car and even messier life. It’s “mom life” right? From sleepless nights to showing up late for everything, the expectation is simply that we’re overwhelmed and drowning. But what if I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way, and that it doesn't have to be your normal? I know when we hear the words “Proverbs 31 woman”, we bristle because it’s another list of unattainable attributes that we’ll never be able to measure up to... but that's literally what God deposited in us as women & moms.

    Ep. 8 Stewardship: Our mind + the prophetic

    I used to think that I was victim to the swirling thoughts in my mind and I had no control over them. It's true, but I can take those unhealthy and toxic thoughts captive and replace them with things that are "authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind… and fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God" (Phil. 4:8). Join me as I found a quiet moment in my home (spoiler alert, you can hear my baby asking me to start his show over!) and discuss what I do to capture those intrusive thoughts and get back on track, thinking about things that are holy, just and good!

    I get down to the nitty gritty when I share my own struggle with an eating disorder and the miraculous way that God healed my mind. It still took time for my body to heal and I had a whole learning curve of how to take care of my body well, because I want to honor my body but also teach my daughter to have a healthy relationship with food and model treating my body well. Join me as I discuss what that looks like as we're raising a young girl and how I'm modeling that in a healthly way.

    As all of us, I’m a busy mom… It’s easy to let the “invisible” time spent in the word disappear. Join me as I talk about giving God our first fruits in our time and establishing spiritual disciplines as a busy mom.  Show Notes:  The Principle of Rest by Pastor Robert Morris - https://youtu.be/md76NH5kosI SOAP Study Style It’s not fancy, all you need is a journal, Bible and a few minutes to yourself. I usually take a verse or two from my reading plan and spend some time studying or meditating on it. Scripture: Just start reading and write out a verse that stands out to you Observe: Reflect on what you’ve read. Ask Questions, what phrase jumps out to you? What was taking place? Who was there? Dig deeper by using resources like the Logos Bible app or Blue Letter Bible to find out the original meanings. If your version has good footnotes, check them out. Write down your observations. Apply: Here’s where you connect what you’ve read with your life. Is there something you need to change or start? Write down the applications that come to your mind to reflect the season you’re in. Prayer: Talk with God. He’s spoke to you through His word, and now you get to thank him and ask Him to help you act on what you’ve learned. Write out your prayers.
