Seth Grossman interview with John DeMasi on 95.5FM and 1450AM near Atlantic City, NJ, WPGTalkRadio.com. How do "woke" radio and TV programs like Jimmy Kimmel stay on the air even when they have poor audience ratings? Because big "woke" corporations pay top dollar to advertise on their programs anyway! SETH GROSSMAN: Before I talk about the issues I highlighted, I'd like to continue your conversation about guys like Jimmy Kimmel. You are puzzled at how he can have low audience ratings year after year and still keep his show on the air. The answer is quite simple, and Rush Limbaugh talked about this for years. Rush Limbaugh of pointed out that CNN and MSNBC, now called MSNOW also had very low ratings for years. Hardly anybody watched them. There were regional TV programs in New York and Los Angeles that had more people watching than CNN and MSNBC did from the entire nation. Above Image: Rush Limbaugh speaking at CPAC in 2009 Rush Limbaugh pointed out that their ratings didn't matter because those shows still made lots of money. That is they had high paying corporate sponsors. The big insurance companies, drug companies and auto companies all spent fortunes to advertise on CNN and MSNBC even though hardly anyone saw their ads. Meanwhile, Rush Limbaugh had a much bigger audience, but those companies would not spend a dime to advertise on the Rush Limbaugh program. Now why was that. You would think that big corporations want to sell their products. And to sell their products, you would think they would pay to advertise where they could reach the most people. And it used to work that way. But not anymore. Now, a lot of those big corporations are "woke." They would spend their advertising money to prop up "woke" programs and promote a "woke" agenda than to promote and sell their products. Sometimes it is because they are run by "woke" executives. Sometimes, it is because these big "woke" corporations make more money getting bailouts and other special deals from friendly politicians in the government, than from ordinary paying customers. And of course these big corporations used their advertising dollars to punish people they didn't like. That's why you never heard ads by any of those big corporate sponsors on the Rush Limbaugh program. JOHN DEMASI: Jeez. I I never I never thought of that. You're right. SETH GROSSMAN: And of course, the CNN and MSNBC, would also be carried on cable. So even if you hated MSNBC and hated CNN and never ever watched them, when you paid your $130 or whatever your cable bill was each month, a big chunk of that went to all the "woke" programming and programs you hated and never watched... Be very careful when you say the federal government to throw people you don't like off the air. You were also saying you wanted the FCC, the federal government, to take action against ABC TV or the Walt Disney Company to make them get Jimmy Kimmel off the air. Be very careful what you wish for. Revoking or not renewing a radio or TV license is capital punishment to the owner of any radio or TV station or network. Having the government take away or fail to renew a broadcast license is a very serious think. It is something that terrifies every owner of every radio and TV station or network. Taking away a license to be on the air is like capital punishment to anyone in the industry. No matter how successful you are or how much money you have invested in a radio or TV station, you have nothing if the government takes away your broadcast license. So just the threat of having the FCC revoke or fail to renew your license, terrifies everyone in the business. You know as well as I do that that Talk Radio is not a high profit margin business. I think we're right there with supermarkets. We barely make ends meet, even during good times. So, if on top of all your other expenses, you have to now pay for expensive lawyers to go to Washington DC and argue your case in front of the FCC to renew your license, your whole bottom line is destroyed. And that reminds me of when I had a talk radio program. And Rush Limbaugh had a very good way to describe talk radio. He said he was a disk jockey in Pittsburgh before he did talk radio. And he said that talk radio wasn't all that different from being a disc jockey. Rush Limbaugh said that when he was a disk jockey, he could play either a good record or a bad record. And he said when he played good songs, people liked his program and they listened to his station. And he said if he played a bad song, people would push the button on their car radio and switch to a different station. He said that hosting a talk radio show worked the same way. He said if a talk radio program had good callers, people would listen to the station. If they had bad callers, people would push a button and go elsewhere. And I remember when I had my own program, there was one particularly bad caller. I'm not going to mention his name, but I bet many of your regular listeners know exactly who I'm talking about. He would just ramble on. He didn't make any sense. And every minute he was talking, I could just imagine my audience disappearing. And so, I would say, "Thank you for your opinion" and I'd cut him off. After a while, I didn't even take his calls. Well, he was a very persistent guy. And he started writing letters to the FCC, the Federal Communication Commission. And within three months, I got a call from my station manager. And he said, "Seth, you are doing a great show, but we've got a problem here. You have to deal with this guy." I said, "This guy is awful. He doesn't bring anything to the table. He's an audience killer." But the station manager told me, "You work out something with this guy and get him to drop his complaint. The bottom line is that this station can't afford to risk our license. We can't even afford to hire a lawyer to defend against his complaint. He is claiming that you are denying him access to your program because he's Black. So, this is what happens when the government has the power to knock people off the air because someone doesn't like what someone is saying on his or her program... https://youtu.be/_sC0D9pkw4s?si=Lasoe48m3LVBrt7Z Above Video: Communist folk singer Pete Seeger began the process of normalizing Communist songs and holidays in America by singing L'Internationale, the Communist anthem at his concert in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1980. Communists finally made their hate-America May 1st holiday mainstream and acceptable in America. SETH GROSSMAN: And there's a headline news story that was reported just before you started this morning's program. There were May first demonstrations in Chicago. Most of the demonstrators were students in the Chicago public schools. The teachers' union had all their members walk out of the schools and lead their students into demonstrations in the street. The purpose of the holiday was to celebrate the May First holiday. There are many things wrong with that whole picture. However, the big story that nobody mentioned was that was used to be Communist hate-America holiday is now mainstream and acceptable. You and I, we're we're boomers. We remember watching the TV news in the 1950s and '60s. Every May 1, there'd be a big parade in Moscow. And they'd have thousands of soldiers marching and tanks and big rockets and other new weapons parading down the main street. And the Russian leaders would make speeches saying we're going to destroy The United States. And they had the same military parades in Communist China, Cuba, and North Korea. Every May first, these Communists would make speeches about how bad America was and how some day they would destroy us. But this morning, on this conservative radio station, the news described this May first holiday as just a day for ordinary working people to demonstrate for higher wages. What was an offensive, anti-American fake holiday is now normal. And it all took places yesterday in Chicago. This goes back to what we talked about two weeks ago. This international Communist holiday started in Chicago in 1886 with what was called the Haymarket Riot. That was where a handful of Communists radicals hijacked a peaceful, union demonstration and threw bombs and shot and killed police. That Communist tradition continued in Chicago for the next 140 years. Obama started his political career in Chicago. His mentors were Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn of the Weather Underground terrorist group and Communist Frank Marshall Davis. Saul Alinsky and his Rules for Radicals were from Chicago. So were Jussie Smollett and Pope Leo. So, Chicago has been at the center of many woke, far left movements in America for many years. By the way, there has been an effort to normalize the Communist May first holiday here in South Jersey for many years. I first noticed it in 2020. That was after Jeff Van Drew defeated me and was elected to Congress as a Democrat in 2018. You may recall that when he was running for election in 2018, Nancy Pelosi said that Jeff Van Drew would not have to vote to impeach President Trump. However, after Democrats won a majority of the House in 2018, Nancy Pelosi changed her mind. She said that Jeff Van Drew and every Democrat in Congress would have to vote to impeach Trump. But Van Drew refused, and Nancy Pelosi was furious with him. She was determined to destroy his political career and make sure he would never be elected to anything again. And you remember the rest. Pelosi groomed young lady from Brigantine to run against Van Drew in the Democratic Party in 2020 named Amy Kennedy. She was also the wife of former Massachusetts Congressman Patrick Kennedy. And of course, Jeff Van Drew surprised everyone. He switched parties and became a pro-Trump Republican. But what is interesting is that Amy Kennedy made no effort to be a moderate. Right away, she promoted that Communists May First holiday and made a big deal about it in 2020... ...
