    Ep 195 / Who are we really hunting for?

    Whitetail Advantage is back, and we’re starting this new chapter with an honest conversation about the pressures surrounding modern hunting. It starts with pro staffs. When does representing a hunting company stop being a partnership and start feeling like unpaid marketing? If hunters are expected to constantly like, comment, share, post products and promote brands, what should those companies be doing in return? From there, the guys dig into the bigger picture: hunting influencers, the pressure to constantly create content, brand-safe opinions, discount-code culture, questionable gear hype, trophy judgment and the need for approval from other hunters online. We also turn the question back on ourselves. Are we documenting hunts because we love hunting—or are we sometimes hunting because we need something to document? Does every new piece of gear really have to be a “game changer”? Why do hunters feel the need to judge someone else’s legal, ethical harvest? And after the brands, followers, cameras, scores and algorithms…have we made hunting more complicated than it ever needed to be? This isn’t about hating companies, social media, influencers or hunting gear. All of those things can add something valuable to hunting.
