Girl Out of Order Podcast

Christine Gale

Girl Out of Order is not just a podcast—it’s a call to action for the woman who's done shrinking, contorting, and apologizing for who she is. Hosted by Christine Gale, attorney, speaker, identity coach, and unapologetic girl-mom, this show is your go-to space for fierce conversations, gut-level honesty, and radical permission to reclaim the woman you were always meant to be. Girl Out of Order challenges the belief that women must play small to belong. No topic off-limits and no mask required. Through solo episodes, powerhouse guest interviews, and Christine’s signature blend of humor, truth-telling, and challenge, you’ll be inspired to drop your sword, stop the self-abandonment, and rise in your worth. Because fitting in is overrated—and being out of order might be exactly what sets you free. If you’ve ever felt like too much and never enough at the same time, pull up a seat. This is your home.

Ep. #148 - "Turn Down the Volume: When Stress Gets So Loud We Stop Hearing It" with Dr. Lizette Warner

Your body has been talking to you. You just can’t hear it over the noise. Dr. Lizette Warner learned that the hard way. After years of hustling and going harder every time something wasn’t working, her body finally forced her to slow down. That’s what Girl Out of Order is about, getting honest about what’s really going on instead of pushing through a life that’s costing you more than you realize. Lizette is a speaker, coach, and systems thinker who helps leaders lead steady and decide sharper when the stakes are high. But she wasn’t always steady. Her chronic stress had grown so loud she stopped hearing it, until a Hashimoto's diagnosis made her ask what her body had been trying to say all along. Once she started paying attention, everything changed. She says it was like her body finally understood it didn’t have to hold on anymore. Then I put her on the spot. I described the most stressed-out version of me, a mom of four teenage girls juggling activities, finances, and a marriage under strain, and Lizette coached that woman live. We also get into: Why “just relax” doesn’t work, and how to find the one thing that settles you in a moment of high stressWhat stress does to your brain, why it’s neuroscience and not mindset, and how to bring your best thinking back onlineWhy you don’t have to own it all to manage it all, and what it looks like to sit in the CEO chairIf you’ve been wondering why you’re so tired, so tense, or so stuck, this one’s for you. Ep. #146 - Embrace the Suck, Then Rewrite the Script: Reinvention, Connection, and Starting Scrappy with Jen Fort

Your title is not your identity. Jen Fort learned that the hard way, and she says the "implosion" might be the best thing that ever happened to her. That's what Girl Out of Order is about, rewriting the script instead of squeezing yourself into a life that no longer fits. Jen spent decades as a single mom and the director of a high-stress security command center, doing everything right. Then two colleagues died within three weeks, and two years later she was blindsided by an involuntary exit. Instead of asking "now what?", she asked "now who?" She gave herself time to wallow, did the soul-searching, and landed a job she had no background in with a 3 a.m. email. She went on to become a career coach, turn a spreadsheet of life lessons into seven books, and coin her own word for human connection, “connect working.”  And she's the first to say she didn't see the path until she looked back. We also get into: Why you don't need clarity to start, and how "start scrappy, move messy" gets you moving when you can't see the whole pathConnect working vs. networking: why people hate being treated like a vending machine, and the Safari Strategy for approaching someone from the sideThe One Person Challenge (meet one new person a week, learn their name, learn one thing about them), including why introverts may have a superpower when it comes to connectingIf you've ever lost a title, a job, or a plan and wondered who you are now, this one's for you. Ep. #145 - Fear is a Liar: Why Fear Never Says No, Only 'Not Now' with Kindyl Keeton

Fear is a liar, and a sneaky one. It rarely says no. It says "not now." Kindyl Keeton  That's what Girl Out of Order is about, no longer letting fear write the rules for who you get to be. Kindyl was a power tumbler and trampolinist who competed internationally, then a coach who ran her own program with about 300 athletes. Then she became a mom of three, and after her divorce in her mid-30s she became a UPS driver, knowing she was meant for more. She set a two-year goal to leave and watched it slip by, until a conversation with her teenage daughter exposed the belief holding her back: that a good mom plays it safe. When she rewrote it to "a good mom models the courage she's asking of her kids," she was out in about six months. Today she's an identity and transformation coach who helps people close the gap between where they are and who they already are. We also get into: Why fear sounds like logic and responsibility, and how it disguises itself as "good mom" excusesWhy the world justifies our fears, and why even the people who love us can pull us back toward what's familiarHow Kindyl moves toward discomfort on purpose, from dinner alone to a dance class full of college kids, to show her body that nothing terrible happensIf you've ever told yourself "maybe tomorrow" about something you really want, this one's for you. Ep. #144 - You’re Not Broken, You’re Becoming. How to Break the Anxiety Cycle with Robyn Graham

You're not broken, you're becoming. Robyn Graham Anxiety is a liar. It's also not a personality flaw. Robyn Graham says it's biological, and once you understand that, everything changes. That's what Girl Out of Order is about, no longer contorting yourself into a mold you were never destined for. Robyn grew up in a loving but anxious home in Southern Illinois, and she spent years trying to be who the world said she should be. Perfectionism, people-pleasing, and the need to control every situation became her armor. What she eventually learned is that those anxiety-driven behaviors are your nervous system trying to keep you safe, and that you can retrain it. When her own children began struggling with anxiety, she decided the cycle would stop with her. She became a doctor of pharmacy and an anxiety expert, and she wrote the book You, and Anxiety: Take Action Over Anxiety to Enjoy Being You. And she's the first to say she's still a work in progress. We also get into: Why "just snap out of it" never works, and what's really happening in your brain and body when anxiety takes overThe switch between your fear center and your "brilliant center," and why gratitude can flip it in a momentWhy "I am anxious" becomes an identity, and the simple first steps (a pen, a piece of paper, and a walk around the block) that start rewiring itIf you've ever believed something was wrong with you, this one's for you. Ep. #143 - My Math Was Wrong: Erika Coleman on When All In and Giving Your Best Are Not the Same Thing

I didn't do bad things. I did too many good things.  Erika Coleman The first time Erika and I got on a discovery call, I knew within five minutes this was a hell yes. Not just because we practically have the same bookshelves (we do), but because she said something I hadn't heard put into words before.  You can burn out doing everything right. That's what Girl Out of Order is about, figuring out that "right" and "sustainable" aren't always the same thing. Erika built a business teaching companies how to go virtual, grew it 345% in five months, and was still hired at the top of her game, right as her mom was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer. For 14 months she gave everything, doctor's appointments, a flash mob of joy, a "happy pill" full of love notes, a family talent show. She thought giving her all was the only way to give her best. Then her mom passed away, her business closed two months later, and Erika found out the hard way that all in and giving your best are not the same thing. We also get into: The research on why even good virtues become harmful past a certain pointHow to keep your drive without robbing tomorrow's version of youThe two questions to ask yourself to check your pace and your presence before you burn outIf you've ever confused giving everything with giving your best, this one's for you. Ep. #141 - The Whole Woman Summit with Founder Julee Brooke

What if your life on the inside could feel as good as your life on the outside?  Julee Brooke Have you ever caught yourself wondering when you disappeared? Not in one big moment, but slowly, over years of putting everyone else first. This week on Girl Out of Order, we sit down with Julee Brooke, a former lawyer turned real estate top-producer turned transformational guide, who has spent decades helping women reconnect with themselves after years of "chameleoning" to other people's needs. Julee's own path took her from law school in DC to educational design in Hawaii, twelve years in Santa Fe real estate, and eventually to the Netherlands, where she's lived for the past eleven years. Along the way, she kept noticing the same pattern, in herself and in the women around her: sixty-hour work weeks, taking on a partner's interests instead of their own, forgetting to actually live the life they were building. That pattern is what led her to create The Whole Woman Summit, a free virtual event on Sunday, September 20th, bringing together many power-packed, diverse speakers (myself included) to help attendees feel, in Julee's words, "alive in all aspects of their life."  Grab your free ticket to the Whole Woman Summit here: https://thewholewomansummit.com/optin-9542?am_id=christine6892  Go VIP and you'll unlock extra speaker freebies, including a free coaching session with me!
