Welcome to one of the internet’s weirdest obsessions. Back in December of 2020, a nurse named Tiffany Dover fainted on camera while she was talking to reporters after getting her first COVID shot. She got right back up and gave another interview, but it was too late. A conspiracy theory was already racing around the world: Dover had died. She’d been replaced by a body double. And an ever-expanding list of conspirators was in on the cover-up, including the drug companies, the hospital, the media, and maybe even the Pope. Tiffany Dover is alive and well, but she’s stayed silent through it all. And now her story has been hijacked by total strangers trying to make people doubt the safety of the COVID vaccine. In this first season of Truthers, a podcast project about misinformation and conspiracy theories, NBC News reporter Brandy Zadrozny sets out to show what’s true and what isn’t—and how one person’s life became a weapon in a global information war.

Brandy hit a nerve — this is a must listen.
This podcast is a piece of brilliant reporting that shows just how far conspiracy theories can rot your brain. The reviews saying it’s biased or one-sided clearly haven’t listened to it. Brandy makes the excellent point that, in some cases, there is nothing to be done once a conspiracy theory plants itself in somebody’s brain. There is no amount of proof that will satisfy that crowd of people. The very idea that somebody could be replaced with a hologram or a body double is so bizarre that it blows my mind that it needs to be addressed, but it does. Well done, Brandy. Looking forward to season two.
Liars
This is so incredibly disingenuous, acting like someone who has purposely disappeared from social media on purpose after getting the jab is doing so because they’re being harassed and doxxed. Such gaslighting. Everyone knows the left uses these tactics and then accuses others of doing the same. The fact that the first thing you reported was that they were looking for the highest payout available to tell the Tiffany Dover story, and then you just ignore that and say she’s being harassed is irresponsible journalism, but what else have we come to expect from the likes of NBC?
Not believing this story
I am new to podcasts, so I don’t know if dragging out the story is normal. But it is annoying! I don’t have time to listen to someone constantly belittle an opposing view, but not prove a thing! Why do you think people are so skeptical? I am not wasting my time listening to any more of this story about a missing nurse.
And for the record: if you were a victim of any crime ( or perceived crime) wouldn’t you want the truth to be revealed.
