The Work: No Child’s Business Podcast is brought to you by the Work no Child’s Business Alliance -which consists of UNICEF Netherlands, Save the Children Netherlands and the Stop Child Labour Coalition. In the three-part series we will focus on three key elements on tackling the scourge of child labour: education, norms change and (international) legislation. We go to Uganda, India and Ivory Coast.

    It’s truly shocking to think that in 2022 Child Labour is still a major issue - that instead of being at school 160 million children are working. This 160 million figure is an increase of 8.4 million since 2016. Half these child labourers are  between the age of five and 11. It’s the first time in 20 years that the number of child labourers has increased and the figure doesn’t take the Covid 19 pandemic into account New reports show that by the end of this year another 9 million children could be forced into work. In the podcast series we will talk about what needs to happen to turn the tide. In this third episode we go to Côte d'Ivoire  and explore the need  for governments and companies to respect human rights, including mandatory due diligence legislation.
