Parents Matter: A Strong Defense for Homeschooling with John Stamper

Parents Matter: A Strong Defense for Homeschooling with John Stamper

Author of Conflicted: Pulling Back the Curtain on Public Education, John Stamper joins the Master Books Podcast to discuss the critical role of parenting in a child's salvation and education. John left the Chicago Public School System because his Christian values were in conflict with what he was mandated to teach his students.
In this episode we focus on Chapter 10 of his book entitled Parents Matter where John exposes the "intentional, systematic, and devastating war that's being waged on parents and traditional family values in this country." pg 133 (07:48)
    We discuss:
Parents are the first model of the gospel for their children and how the public education system undermines Christian doctrine and the parent's Christian influence. (07:30) Homeschooling from a biblical worldview is following the model of the Bible Parents have the opportunity to model to children that God loves them. The public school education agenda is not designed to reinforce this fact, instead it seeks to dismiss evidence God exists. (10:07) The doctrine of intersectionality (intersecting identities) which divides people into enemies assigning people roles based on their race, gender, religion, etc. into "oppressors" and "the oppressed." For example, Christians and straight men are actually labeled as "oppressive." This turns classmates and colleagues into enemies which dismantles the Christian value of unity. (12:45) John's experience revealing how school system is designed to disrupt the nuclear family. (14:30) Marxism in the education system today. Carl Marx's intended purpose was to "dethrone God." John Stamper reveals how the influence of Black Lives Matter is destructive to the nuclear family and how it is being promoted within the school system. (14:55) We see how families are divided and undermined in school policies such as the "parental secrecy policies. (15:45) The freedom to choose to live out the hope of life in Christ by fulfilling God's Word in Deuteronomy 6 to teach your children the Word and ways of God diligently throughout each day. (19:19) John exposes the early sexualization of children within the public schools as young as kindergarten using concepts like the "gender unicorn."  John explains how this goes beyond brainwashing to being a form of kidnapping their mind and their soul. John shows this is similar to strategies used by Lennon in the USSR. (21:19) Public school teachers are told not to tell parents if their children are living an identity at school than they are at home. (23:29) Stamper reveals how history is repeating itself exposing how the strategy of indoctrination and division of families was successful and the birth of devastation such as the Holocaust and World War 2. This is outlined in chapter 8 of his book, Conflicted, entitled "Learning from Marxism and Communism in the 20th Century." (26:32) Churches and families can partner together to make homeschooling more affordable with a new program: Christian Education Scholarship Program (CESP). (29:12) John invites listeners to his podcast: The State of the State School. Show Links:

Math Lessons Story

This podcast was very helpful especially since it will be my first year homeschooling and she will be in Kindergarten. I love hearing how math applies to an actual story that relates to the age being taught. It was great hearing what veteran homeschoolers would do differently and really appreciated hearing the importance of doing the Home Ec projects. Hearing how important it is to bring back some of those skills and apply it to life.
