We are ex-Mormons and we’re re-reading the Book of Mormon together, but this time we know that it’s a work of fiction. We think we’re funny. In each episode we read a new chapter from the BOM and uncover how the church’s teachings affected us in our conservative, faithful days. We believe in love and acceptance, but we process some anger along the way. Expect lightmindedness, loud laughter, evil speaking of the Lord’s anointed, and taking the name of the Lord in vain.

    Alma 05 Part 04 Shall Very Soon Shine Forth

    Joe, Smith, Molly, and Reneigh close out their four-part deep dive into Alma 5 — the hardest chapter to finish when you keep getting distracted by werewolves. Is Michael Crichton's Sphere as scripture? Have you seen the anus of Blucifer? (he doesn’t like being called that). He's the giant blue horse outside Denver Airport whose sculptor Luis Jimenez famously died during its creation. From there they cover: Skylar Higley's podcast Help Me Be Black, a heated debate about whether Star Trek is for smart people and Star Wars is for dumb people (Smith's dad's words, not ours), Christopher Nolan's filmography including a film variously called "Interception" and "Interstellar," and David Bazan's ironclad road trip ban as enforced by Reneigh. The group proposes a General Authorities fantasy draft with David Bazan as prophet, seer, and revelator, and reads the most unhinged piece of fan mail in podcast history involving spiders, merit badges, and James A. Garfield. The episode ends with the group accidentally summoning Blucifer himself, who reveals that Charles Barkley runs the Illuminati, falls asleep standing up, and expresses concern about Denver's cold weather and its effect on human anatomy.     Alma 05 Part 03 What's this 'true' shit?

    Smith wants to talk KPop Demon Hunters, but Joe is clueless. Joe wants to talk Frankenstein. Someone claiming to be his attorney shows up but he kind of sounds like Bob Odenkirk from this TGTTM commercial. The guys try to explain the WoW, but it’s been a while. There is a Blue Mustang that clip-clops around.  Data and Kit try to teach about why you shouldn’t drink and drive. Smith refers to this Drunk History clip.     Alma 05 Part 02 Behold, are you f***in' stripped of pride?

    The guys are joined by Reneigh! Smith wants to collect his cigar funds, and has a note to read from his doctor. Smith suggests reading Michael Crichton over the BOM. Smith asks about a David Bazan documentary and mentions a Pedro the Lion song. Smith leaves at the arrival of Minnette Mumbalance. The crew is interrupted by someone speaking in brogue-code. It’s Jenny from Big Brother UK.     Alma 05 Part 01 Dee Klein and FinDom

    Smith is missing, but Joe is joined by his old buddy Reneigh. They meet Dee Klein who works at the fraud department of Joe’s bank, YourBank. Dee reads from Alma 05 which starts off as a recap of the last few chapters which were probably boring.     Molly Morgasm joins the guys again and she has a sleepy confession. She is also trying out a new habit. Smith reminds the listener of the toes sketch from Tim and Eric’s Bedtime Stories (TW- this is grooosssssss). Smith brings up this old Onion video. Smith does a spot-on Lorne impression. Joe can’t help but to re-tell this joke.  Joe is excited to have a new connection to a Flav connection. Molly and Smith remind Joe about this JRH talk. Molly tells the guys about a wonderful Mindy Gledhill song. Smith has a dark epiphany about a Bishop’s interview he heard about. He has a great idea to sell white-on-white sports jerseys for temple workers.     Alma 03 Fair dinkum

    It’s the return of Molly Morgasm! She’s the guys’ old friend from a previous episode. The crew try to determine whether or not Michael Stipe’s accent is a British accent. Joe talks about how the Denver airport is haunted. Molly describes a wonderful act of service in which she went around a grieving widow’s home and replaced spiritual quotes with quotes from the band The Smiths. Molly explains that her name is on purpose (hint: it’s related to “throbbing”).     Smith mixes up the dates for podcast recordings and he tries to do an X-Files episode. The guys are joined by a new friend Terry Cloth (Cloth), who promptly reminds the guys of this Lonely Island video. Smith mentions this bowling video from Vic Berger that everyone watches during the break later. There is also this turkey video too. Terry mentions this video where Eddy Burback convinces a robot that he invented the iPhone 16 at a young age. Smith goes B O’Reilly for a sec.  Terry recommends this funny video about a very cute house.
