The Question That Haunted a Rwanda Genocide Survivor

Nearly one million people were killed during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. Ben survived. His father didn't. And one question stayed with him: “Why did I survive?” In this powerful episode of the Inspire Hope Podcast, Samuel Bernard sits down with Ben, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide, to hear his remarkable story of survival, devastating loss, and faith. When violence swept through Rwanda in 1994, Ben lost his father. Yet he, his mother, and his five siblings survived. While many people ask, “Why did this happen to me?” Ben found himself wrestling with a different question: “Why was I spared when so many others died?” How do you process such unimaginable loss? How do you make sense of surviving when others didn't? And where is God in the middle of suffering? This is an honest conversation about grief, survivor's guilt, God's providence, and finding hope after tragedy. 🎧 Listen to Ben's testimony and discover why his story is one you won't soon forget. Jesus Met Her Right Where She Was

Real story. Real people. Real faithShe went to bed that night overwhelmed with gratitude, thanking Jesus for what she had witnessed. Then everything changed. In the middle of the night, she experienced what she describes as a terrifying demonic attack—unable to move, surrounded by darkness, and desperately trying to understand what was happening. Then one instruction came to her spirit:“Say Jesus.”At first, she could barely get the words out. But when she finally cried out the name of Jesus, everything broke. This is a powerful testimony about fear, spiritual warfare, and the authority found in the name of Jesus. The heart of the Inspire Hope Podcast is simple: If God can do it in their lives, He can do it in my life as well.follow for more real stories of faith, transformation, and hope. I Thought Christians Didn’t Struggle With This

What happens when you love Jesus… but you’re struggling with something you were told Christians don’t struggle with? In this episode of the Inspire Hope Podcast, Laurie Krieg shares her honest Christian testimony about same-sex attraction, hidden struggles, faith, identity, and the journey of bringing everything into the light of Jesus. For Laurie, hiding looked like performance, people-pleasing, and perfectionism. But underneath it was a struggle she didn’t know how to talk about. From a young age, Laurie experienced same-sex attraction. She grew up believing this wasn’t something a “real Christian” would struggle with—so when a friendship eventually became a secret same-sex relationship, she found herself trying to reconcile her faith with a part her life she had kept hidden. This conversation explores Christian identity, sexual temptation, shame, vulnerability, healing, and what it means to follow Jesus while facing deeply personal struggles. Because people sitting beside us in church every Sunday may genuinely love Jesus while carrying questions, temptations, and struggles they’re terrified to say out loud. Laurie’s story is honest. It’s vulnerable. And ultimately, it points us back to Jesus. 🎧 Listen to the full conversation on the Inspire Hope Podcast on Apple Podcasts. 👉 What can the Church do better to become a place where people feel safe enough to bring their struggles into the light? My Faith Exploded When I Found My “WHY” | Ryan Pauly’s Testimony

What happens when you discover the reason God has called you? Ryan Pauly says his faith exploded when he found his “WHY.” In this episode of the Inspire Hope Podcast, Ryan shares his powerful faith journey and testimony of how God called him to the Dominican Republic—and the incredible way God confirmed that calling. But Ryan's story also opens the door to a much bigger conversation about Christian apologetics, faith deconstruction, doubt, questioning Christianity, and one of life's biggest questions: Is God real? How should we respond when someone we love is struggling with their faith? What do we say when someone is deconstructing Christianity? And is our goal to win the argument—or to understand the person behind the questions? Ryan has spent more than a decade working with students as a teacher, missionary, and apologist. He is the Founder and President of Think Well, Director of Immersive Experiences at MAVEN, and an Adjunct Professor of Theology and Apologetics at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University. His doctoral research focuses on apathy among Christian students and how the church can help cultivate a passionate and lasting faith. Whether you're confident in your faith, wrestling with doubt, or walking alongside someone who is questioning what they believe, Ryan's story offers a compassionate reminder that questions don't have to be the end of a faith journey. Through real stories like Ryan's, we see again and again that God is at work. May this conversation strengthen your faith, renew your hope, and remind you of God's faithfulness.
