Rural Raised Leaders Episode #14: It's the most wonderful...and stressful time of the year! 6 ways to head into the holidays with more joy, presence and PEACE!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…or is it?! You guys know that we don’t take life too dang serious…but when it comes to THIS, we do. We are moving into November and December…which means holidays and ALL the things that come with that. SO much joy…but also so much stress. More money to be spent. More rushing around and less downtime. More sugar consumption. Less moving of bodies. Less sun exposure. More societal pressure to make everything “perfect.” And before you know it, you are burnt-out, stressed, overwhelmed, and just wishing for everything to be over. Can you relate? Well that’s what we talk about in today’s episode. We don’t buy into the narrative that motherhood has to be something you survive…but it can be something that you THRIVE in. This year we are committed, more than ever, to finding the joy and presence in the holidays. By focusing on OURSELVES a bit more, we can pour into our families and really be PRESENT. Which is the whole goal right?! We are taking the Happy + Grateful Challenge, which means choosing 1 or 2 areas to focus on over these next 5 weeks to leave us less stressed and more in tune with our bodies, our minds, and our emotions. Listen in as we break down the 6 areas of focus that can make a HUGE difference in how you show up this holiday season. Stress management. Moving your body. Eating to nourish. Getting ready in the morning. Self reflection. Connection with others. We invite you to join us inside of our free community…or simply choose 2 things to do after listening to this episode! Whatever you prefer…the goal is to just get started! Get ahead of the game this year…set yourself up for success…and ENJOY the most wonderful time of the year! Rural Raised Leaders Episode #13: SPECIAL GUEST, Carla Harrison. Living the unconventional life of her dreams through fun, faith, teamwork and unexpected opportunities.

We had so much FUN interviewing Carla Harrison today, the head honcho (with her husband, John) of the clown family! We laughed so much and her pure JOY and love of life really shines through in all that she does. Carla is married to John Harrison, world-renowned PRCA rodeo clown and specialty act and together they have 4 kids (3 on earth and 1 in heaven), a rental property business, a Wild West Show, a liquor store, and other investment businesses. They truly do it ALL and they do it well! Through a rock solid marriage, an amazing rodeo community and family, and faith in God, they are able to accomplish amazing things. (And get through the really tough times). They exude unconventional living, and if you are the type of person who wants more FREEDOM in their life…then we know Carla’s story will resonate with you. Whatever you want to accomplish in life…you CAN. You have to start somewhere, and even though there were seasons of survival and long hours, Carla and John made it happen and now are able to enjoy multiple streams of income while living their dream life. I think the thing that stuck out the most was the confidence Carla has. No matter what she is doing, she is confident that it is going to work out. And if it doesn’t, she figures out a way to keep moving forward. She truly has the most optimistic outlook on life, and I think that’s the BEST way to live! If you are someone who wants to live a more unconventional life…if you’ve got some crazy ideas in your head that you really want to pursue (that maybe scare you a little bit)...tune into this episode, because you need to hear Carla’s story! It doesn’t get much more unconventional than the clown family! Go out in faith, live with no regrets, and take the opportunities as they come! 5. Rural Raised Leaders Episode #10: Giving up is rarely the answer. The inner ramblings of Lindsey + Shayla.

Rural Raised Leaders Episode #10: Giving up is rarely the answer. The inner ramblings of Lindsey + Shayla.

Welcome to the inner ramblings of Lindsey and Shayla… If you’ve been loving this podcast so far, then you will REALLY love this episode because this is a great portrayal of the things we both think and talk about on a regular basis! Haha! How many of you have ever wanted to give up on your dream? The answer is most likely ALL of you. But how many of you actually HAVE given up? Hopefully not many. Because there is something WIRED in you that says “you can’t give up.” You have this THING that keeps you going…even when things get tough. As I (Shayla) was listening to the Ed Mylett podcast this morning, this idea of never giving up REALLY resonated with me. PLUS, Lindsey has been reading his best selling book The Power of One More, so we knew we would have a TON to talk about today. On Ed’s podcast episode, he was interviewing David A. Arnold, who after 25 years, FINALLY really broke out into the comedy world. From his super humble beginnings, to years of growth and change, to finally being at the top of his game, it was a crazy inspirational story that I totally resonated with. (And made me laugh too)! Now, hopefully it doesn’t take you 25 years to see your own dreams come to reality…but what if it does? Do you really believe your dreams are worth all of that time, sacrifice and growth? For me, it is a YES, because I know that part of the success is WHO you are becoming on the way. The journey towards the best version of you. And as I listened to David tell his story, I could tell how worth it the journey was. Here is the full episode if you want to take a listen: We wanted to send the message today that there is nothing WRONG with you if you feel like you are constantly striving for more. If you are never truly satisfied with where you are. When I think about my own goals, I can totally see them coming to fruition, and then I’m starting on another project or another investment or goal. It’s just wired in me to continue to create things and GROW. But the beauty, and the thing that Lindsey and I really focus on is the PEACE and the JOY that we can create in our lives WHILE pursuing success. That for us, this is a major focus, and if you are like us, we know you can relate to that too. The end goal will always be there, but the time you have with your family and the memories you are creating won’t be. So taking the time to recognize all of that is really really important. We hope you love this podcast as much as we loved creating it. Sometimes the best content comes straight from the heart, without notes or planning. Never ever giving up or settling is a GOOD thing and if you feel like you have that wired in you…we are cheering you on and can’t wait to hear your story of triumph and growth! “Are you willing to sacrifice who you are for who you could be? You mission is to keep growing, expanding, and learning to lead a full and happy life. When you do these things your identity will change.” -The Power of One More PS: Because we love Ed so much, we want to offer you the chance to get his book for FREE! We will be doing a drawing on our ruralraisedleaders Instagram on Thursday, September 15th (one day after podcast is released). 6. Rural Raised Leaders Episode #9: SPECIAL GUEST, Cassie Woods. Simple shifts in your health to help you show up with HIGH PERFORMANCE + PEACE in your business and your life.

    08/31/2022

Rural Raised Leaders Episode #9: SPECIAL GUEST, Cassie Woods. Simple shifts in your health to help you show up with HIGH PERFORMANCE + PEACE in your business and your life.

When I think high performance, I think Cassie Woods. She is a wife, a mom, and a top leader at The Mental Wellness Company, Amare Global. She embodies what it looks like to LOVE your life while pursuing your dreams and goals. She has actually been a pivotal mentor in both of our lives. In our business, health, relationships, and just fulfillment in general. When we decided we wanted to build a big business, but do it in a way that still gave us peace without the hustle culture…she was the mentor we chose. She’s helped us truly become the women we are today…And this episode will show you WHY she is so good at what she does. And how mental wellness and your HEALTH plays a huge part in living a high performing life. But the fact of the matter is that she hasn’t ALWAYS been a health nut. She was raised just like me and you in the western industry. She drank the pop, ate the chips, burned the midnight oil. She’s a hard worker and definitely was raised with a “if your feet aren’t moving, you're not working hard enough” mentality. You guys know what we are talking about! ;) But she got to a point in her life where how she was feeling was leading her straight towards a medicated life. Whether that was medicine for her gut, for her mental health, or for her sleep. Something had to give. And so she decided to do some research and the rest is history. (As in, the rest is in this episode, so make sure you listen)! In this interview, Cassie gives some INSANE value on habit creation, where to start if you want to make some simple shifts in your health, and why LOVING yourself is the secret to actually getting the things that you want out of life. The identity you have now about yourself is not the identity you have to keep forever. ESPECIALLY if it’s not serving you. For example, if you believe that you aren’t good at getting sleep or you believe you don’t need sleep…then you will continue to feel exhausted, strung out, and bogged down every single day. But if you start adopting the identity that you NEED 8 hours of sleep every night, and you take action on that belief (and do things to help you get better sleep), you will become someone who feels energized, alive, creative, and amazing because that sleep is SERVING you in your health and in your life. Make sense? We dive more into it in today’s episode! At the end of the day…leading a high performing life starts with taking action on ONE thing. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing (even though we KNOW your hardworking brain is telling you it has to be). ;) You want to start moving yourself towards something you love…vs. running away from something you hate. That is what truly can cement great habits long term. We want to challenge you to listen to this episode and choose ONE thing you can start implementing today that will serve you right now and in the long term. We even mention a little challenge we are doing that focuses on mental wellness that we KNOW you are going to want to do with us…so stay tuned for more info on THAT! 75 Hard, WHAT?! Rural Raised Leaders Episode #8: Showing up in your life + your business with Top Leader Energy!

So we were truly SO inspired by our latest interview with THE Ashley Alderson….(and if you missed that episode, go check out Episode 7 now!!!) that we decided to elaborate on the conversation between being a CEO and being an entrepreneur. Everyone starts off as an entrepreneur…you are juggling all the hats. Work comes home with you. Maybe you are making money…maybe not. Your business and work becomes your identity and it is all consuming… And the GOAL is to move into being a CEO, right?! But why wait for the paycheck to increase? Why wait for EVERYTHING to be perfect before you start acting like the CEO? We identified 3 areas where YOU could start tapping into your inner CEO and Top Leader Energy TODAY. The first is by setting clear boundaries. When we cross the lines between family and business…or we neglect our health and wellness or we are feeding our brains negative CRAP….we have no boundaries. That means we are trying to do TOO much…and getting very little results. Whereas a CEO can set clear boundaries between work and family and actually be PRESENT in both situations. A CEO honors her physical body and her thoughts because she knows it matters to her overall performance, success, and happiness. There might be seasons of growth, where work is more demanding…but the overall idea of setting boundaries is open communication with the people in your life and sticking with the intentions you are making for THAT season. We’ve truly been learning how to say YES to the right things…and NO to the wrong things. When you start to do this…instead of being average at a lot of little things…you can be GREAT at ONE thing and that will make a HUGE difference in your life and your goals! The last thing is developing systems and processes in order to make your time as sufficient as possible! Focusing on the areas that will actually MAKE you money…instead of just wasting time. I think we could do a whole other podcast on this topic alone! When you are doing CEO level work during WORK hours…you can then spend your time with your family completely present and available for the ones who need and love you! What does your Top Leader Energy look like? What does it look like for YOU to be the CEO of your life? Slow down, evaluate where you might need to make some adjustments with your boundaries or priorities and start making those incremental changes! Nothing happens overnight so if this is totally new to you (trust us, we’ve been there too and are constantly a work in progress…) pick ONE area to focus on over the next 90 days. Whether it be business and family related, health related, or even your mindset. We believe in you!!!! Enjoy the episode! 8. Rural Raised Leaders Episode #7: SPECIAL GUEST, Ashley Alderson. "Everyone wants to be a lion until it's time to do what lions do." How overcoming obstacles led to big dreams coming to life.

    08/03/2022

Rural Raised Leaders Episode #7: SPECIAL GUEST, Ashley Alderson. "Everyone wants to be a lion until it's time to do what lions do." How overcoming obstacles led to big dreams coming to life.

“I’m going to do something that no one else has done and I’m going to help people…” When asked what she was going to be when she grows up…this was the response from Ashley Alderson. (Which drove her teachers pretty crazy)! From a young age, she knew she didn’t fit the mold of what everyone else was doing and she was perfectly ok with that. If you have a dream, it is there for a REASON and Ashley has been living that out ever since she can remember. But here’s the thing. It hasn’t always been easy. And in this podcast you will hear the real story of how Ashley began building her business…and how it was ripped away from her in an instant. Her advice? Don’t ever trust a man on Twitter!!!! But seriously…when you pursue big dreams…sometimes that small town mentality can come back to you. And you start doubting yourself and what you are capable of. “Who am I to do this big thing” becomes the voice in your head. And the wrong people can take advantage of you. After picking herself up and truly FIGHTING for her dreams (and showing up with genuine humility and love), Ashley went on to sky rocket her business, The Boutique Hub, and is helping thousands of people today. This story will give you chills and HOPEFULLY encourage you to keep fighting for your own dreams, no matter what obstacles you are facing. In this episode, we also dove into chatting about boundaries, priorities, and faith when it comes to being a CEO in your business and your life. There is a shift that happens when you go from being an entrepreneur to being a CEO…and if you are SERIOUS about your own dreams and plans, this advice is GOLD. Ashley is truly a light to everyone and her success is proof of hard work, perseverance, belief in herself, and the grace of God. We know her message will light you up inside as well…and help you believe in yourself that much more than you already do…to take your dreams and life to the next level! Make sure you give us a follow on IG @ruralraisedleaders and join this MOVEMENT with us. Go ahead and share with the other western women in your life, too!
