    Creature Feature 111- Something's Musconetwrong

There are mysteries all around us in this universe. Sometimes, they’re complete unknowns, others they’re things we think we understand but happen to be much deeper than that. This is What the Heck, a podcast that looks at these mysteries. Welcome to What The Heck's Creature Feature! The Saturday episodes look specifically at animals and monsters that appear in stories and sightings around the world. We take a look at the stories and eyewitness acounts first before even looking at the description and theories for the creature, so you can make the image in your head first! This week we're looking at the Mantis Man. Around the Musconetcong River near Hackettstown, New Jersey, sightings of a humanoid praying mantis creature have been reported. The information surrounding them is scarce, but not completely unavailable and so I looked into the creature. Some of the theories here are quite interesting, but there's almost no recorded evidence to back them up, we might have found something that links back to some of the earlier episodes. Episode 181- Inchworm

There are mysteries all around us in this universe. Sometimes, they’re complete unknowns, others they’re things we think we understand but happen to be much deeper than that. This is What the Heck, a podcast that looks at these mysteries. Welcome to What the Heck, season 5! I took a year off so I could get my affairs in order and manage some life changes, but we are back! As always with an opening week, we're looking at the same topic for the next 7 days. Today, we're looking at the death of Geraldine Largay. Geraldine had been hiking for years. Nobody thought that choosing to hike the Appalachian Trail at 66 would have been a problem to her. But she never appeared to meet her husband at the Route 27 crossing. Searches happened, then more a year later, but Geraldine was nowhere to be found. This episode has no theories, but it's also not a happy ending. After a while of being missing and quiet, the reveals come as the case unfolds. Episode 180- On the Bus?

There are mysteries all around us in this universe. Sometimes, they’re complete unknowns, others they’re things we think we understand but happen to be much deeper than that. This is What the Heck, a podcast that looks at these mysteries. Welcome to What the Heck, season 5! I took a year off so I could get my affairs in order and manage some life changes, but we are back! As always with an opening week, we're looking at the same topic for the next 7 days. Today, we're looking at the disappearance of Randolph Sedlack. Randolph, Randy to friends, grew up on Long Island, then moved to Buffalo, New York, Escondido, California, then finally to Blacksburg, Virginia. He was very interested in fitness and lifted weights often before suddenly disappearing in 1983. It's possible that he was seen getting a bus to New York City, but there's not enough evidence to say he definitely did. Investigations were closed quickly and never reopened. A body was even found in Philipstown, New York, but hasn't been attributed to him. WHere did Randy Sedlack go? Episode 179- Not A Funny April Fool

Today, we're looking at the disappearance of James Rufus Williams. April 1st, 1955 was a strange day for James Williams. He had been suffering from high blood pressure and left work early because he wasn't feeling well. People saw him walking along the train tracks towards New Fort from Marion, North Carolina. But he never returned home. Despite efforts to find him, he was pronounced dead. Decades later, a flier was received by the police in New Fort, asking them to reopen the case. However, there is little evidence to back up any theory, leaving the possibilities to speculation. Episode 178- The Lady With No Name

Today, we're looking at the mysterious Morehead Bridge Lady. In 2009 or 2010, a mysterious woman entered Morehead, Kentucky. She went by several aliases and was unhoused, but refused help from anyone offering. Instead, she utilised and donated to the food back, choosing to make her home under the bridge on Highway 32. In 2018, she hadn't been seen for a few days and police went to find her under the bridge, only to find her dead. Her journals offered no information about who she was, but she had integrated into the community so much that they came together to pay for a proper burial for her. Since her death, people have speculated a lot on who this lady was, but her secret stayed secret, and she will forever be the Morehead Bridge Lady. Episode 177- No Information

Today, we're looking at the disappearance of Michael Keith Allen. When I look at the mysteries for the episodes, I always go with the assumption that there are sleuths out there looking into them. This case is very different. Michael Keith Allen was last seen in 2001 getting into a truck that was being driven by someone unknown. He's not been seen since. His remains have been believed to have been found twice, but at 6'8", Michael was very tall. The first set of remains were found in 2003 in Chicago, Illinois, but he was ruled out because the remains were only 6'6". The second set of remains were found in a car in Dewey Lake, Kentucky, in 2022, but these were attributed to someone who had been missing since 1990. Other than that, all sources that seemed to have information had broken links or removed articles which means I can't give any more than I already have. Episode 176- Snow Day

Today, we're looking at the disappearance of Kelly Hollan Jr. A snow day is the best kind of day for a school kid. No school, and time to have fun in it before it all melts away. And that's exactly what Kelly did. His mother, Judy, had told him not to leave the yard and had been checking on him throughout the day. Until, that is, she went next door to use the phone. Between her leaving the house and coming back, Kelly had disappeared. It wasn't for another couple of hours that Judy realised he was actually missing, but wasn't allowed to call the police until midnight. What had happened to Kelly, and who are the suspects behind the disappearance? Episode 175- The Rules of the Mountain

Today, we're looking at the history of the Appalachian Mountains before we dive into some of the cases surrounding the area. The history of Appalachia is fascinating but the way the area has been looked at over time has been less than desirable. However, from the history and the settling of the area comes some very interesting and ominous folklore. If you've seen Appalachian TikToks, you'll know some of the rules of the forest already, but I look a bit deeper into those and some of the other folklore surrounding the area ready for 6 cases of mysterious disappearances, appearances, and deaths in the Appalachian Mountains.
