    Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union - Andrea Wieland and Title IX

    Episode 63 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Head Golf Coach Andrea Wieland, who is in her sixth year at the helm of the program. Wieland, a two-time Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, has led the Warhawks to five straight conference titles and four trips to the NCAA Championship. During the 50th anniversary year of the enactment of Title IX, Wieland discusses her career playing golf, including as a youth player and as a scholarship student-athlete at the University of Wisconsin, the growth of college women’s golf in the United States, coaching her team and some of the trailblazers who have allowed her to have a 30-plus year career playing and coaching golf.

    Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union - 2022 NCAA Division III Week

    Episode 62 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a roundtable conversation with UW-Whitewater student-athletes Zach Campbell, Brian Conaghan, Morgan McEntire and Abby Thompson, who are each members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Thompson is a member of the women’s swimming and diving team and the SAAC president, and McEntire is a member of the gymnastics team and the SAAC vice president. Conaghan is the SAAC treasurer, and Campbell is a senior representative from the baseball team. The group discusses the role of SAAC on campus as well as what they enjoy about being a Division III student-athlete during the NCAA’s annual Division III Week, which observes and celebrates the impact of athletics and student-athletes on each campus and surrounding community. Each participant on the roundtable also tells us their favorite #whyd3 moment as student-athletes.

    Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union - Keri Carollo, Pat Miller

    Episode 61 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes conversations with Head Women’s Basketball Coach Keri Carollo and Head Men’s Basketball Coach Pat Miller to preview the upcoming 2021-22 season. Carollo, who also serves as Senior Woman Administrator and Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, has led the Warhawks to six Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, two conference tournament titles and 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, including three trips to the Final Four (2008, 2013, 2014). She begins her 20th season as head coach this winter. Miller, who is in his 21st year as head coach, has guided UW-Whitewater to six WIAC regular season championships, four conference tournament titles and nine NCAA Tournament bids, including national championships in 2012 and 2014. He entered the 2020-21 season ranked fourth all time in winning percentage among coaches with a minimum of 10 seasons coaching at the NCAA Division III level and fifth among active Division III coaches.

    Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union - Dawson Miller, Amanda (Brom) Moehling

    Episode 60 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes conversations with former UW-Whitewater cross country and track and field student-athletes Dawson Miller (2011-15) and Amanda (Brom) Moehling (2011-15). Both discussed the coaching career of head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach Jeff Miller, who enters his 40th season coaching the men’s cross country team and 38th coaching the women’s team. Miller and Moehling talked about Coach Miller’s ability to coach at a high level for nearly four decades, what makes him such a good coach, and their favorite memories in working with him. Dawson Miller, who is the son of Jeff Miller, was a six-time All-American in track and field, including the 2015 NCAA Division III national champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2015, and was a 10-time All-WIAC honoree, including three straight conference titles in the steeplechase. UW-Whitewater recorded six top-10 national finishes during his tenure, including a third-place finish at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Championship. In cross country, Dawson garnered all-conference and all-region accolades and was a national qualifier as a senior in 2014. He was named a UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete and earned a spot on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in each of his four years. Dawson graduated in 2015 with a degree in finance, and earned his MBA from UW-Whitewater in 2017. He served in various capacities on the cross country and track and field staffs following graduation. Moehling was a six-time national qualifier in track and field competing in the 800-meter run, and was an All-American in the event in 2014 thanks to a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She finished among the top five in the 800-meter run at all eight of her WIAC Championship meets, including six All-WIAC finishes. In cross country, Amanda was a four-year top-four runner on the team, and her personal best time of 23 minutes, 30 seconds in the 6-kilometer race ranks among the top 25 in program history. She was named a UW-Whitewater Chancellor’s Scholar-Athlete and earned a spot on the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll in each of her four years. Amanda graduated in 2015 with a degree in physical education with emphasis in health and human performance. She has served as an assistant coach for the cross country programs since 2018.

    Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union - Stephanie (DesJardins) Schuck

    Episode 59 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Stephanie (DesJardins) Schuck, who competed for the UW-Whitewater women’s soccer team from 2006-2009. During her tenure at UW-W, Schuck was a four-year starter, compiling 10 goals and one assist over 67 matches played, including four goals and one assist in 19 matches during her senior year in 2009. The Warhawks reached the semifinals of the WIAC Tournament in 2007, 2008 and 2009. A native of Park Ridge, Illinois, Schuck was a four-year member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and graduated in 2011 with a degree in K-12 physical education with minors in health, coaching and adaptive PE. Schuck is a high school physical education teacher at Jacobs High School in Algonquin, Illinois. Schuck discusses the women’s soccer program’s upcoming 30th anniversary celebration, her career at UW-Whitewater, setting the table for the program’s current run of success, and how her Warhawk experiences help her in her day-to-day life.

    Episode 57 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation with Kevin Bullis, who enters his seventh year as head football coach at UW-Whitewater. In 2019, he led the Warhawks to a 13-2 record, a share of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship and the program’s 10th appearance in the Stagg Bowl (NCAA Division III national championship game). Bullis is a two-time WIAC George Chryst Coach of the Year and owns a 57-9 career record, including a 32-3 mark against conference competition. Bullis discusses the message he gave to the team after a difficult 2020-21 year, the team’s upcoming summer camps and Quarterback Club golf outing, several recent news topics around the program and the upcoming 2021 season.

    Episode 56 of Inside Warhawk Athletics Presented by Educators Credit Union includes a conversation between the UW-Whitewater golf team and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Ryan Callahan. Callahan served as administrator and COVID-19 health official for the Warhawks at the 2021 NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship, which took place May 11-14 in Lansing, Mich. The podcast was recorded prior to the national tournament, where UW-W placed 12th for its third top-15 finish in the last four years. The podcast includes a discussion about Callahan’s experiences as interim AD, his full career at UW-Whitewater, which included a four-year span as a student-athlete for the Warhawk baseball team, and each of the participants’ “welcome to college” moment as student-athletes. Note: Callahan was named Director of Intercollegiate Athletics on a permanent basis last Friday, May 21.
