"The People’s Court Podcast" draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian's decisions – based on current law – are final and binding. Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    First, the plaintiff claims the defendant's dog bit him three times, and his whole life has changed forever, so he's suing. The defendant feels bad for the plaintiff, but she insists the plaintiff went into her home knowing her dog was a bit jittery. Then, the plaintiff gave his cousin, the defendant, a loan before Christmas. However, the defendant failed to pay him back, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant argues the money was a gift. Plus, the plaintiff hired and paid the defendant to provide a D.J. for a party. However, the defendant called a day before and said the D.J. got into a car accident. The defendant hasn't provided a refund, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff is the one who canceled hours before the party.     First, the plaintiff let her neighbor borrow a special and exclusive edition of Essence magazine. She says the defendant lost it and now owes her for it. She claims the defendant has threatened her, so she’s suing for the cost of the magazine and threatening bodily harm. The defendant argues she had to move out to repaint her apartment, and it must have gotten lost during that. The defendant says the plaintiff left trash in front of her door. She doesn’t get why the plaintiff is suing her for so much money for a $3 magazine. She’s countersuing for aggravation and harassment. Then, the plaintiff brings his ex-girlfriend to court. He says the defendant, who doesn’t have a license, stole his truck and totaled it. He also claims the defendant hacked his email and sent a threatening letter, causing him to get arrested. The plaintiff is suing for the cost of the truck. The defendant argues the truck was hers, so she doesn’t owe him. Plus, the plaintiff and defendant used to be close friends. She registered a car in her name for the defendant, but then he started racking up parking tickets, so she’s suing for what she’s owed. Then, the defendant hired the plaintiff, a lawyer, to represent her in a civil case. He claims the defendant won’t pay him because they lost, so he’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff guaranteed he would win the case. She appealed the decision and won, so she doesn’t think she owes because she has already paid him a ton of money in fees. Plus, the plaintiff dropped off his designer suit pants and at the defendant’s dry-cleaning business. He says the defendant lost his pants, which makes the rest of the suit unwearable. He’s suing for the cost of a new suit. The defendant argues he tried looking for the pants and he offered the plaintiff money for the missing trousers. The defendant refuses to pay for it, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists he never made an actual deal for the plaintiff to buy him a pool cover.
