    NYP-19: Surviving Inflation, Recession, Layoffs and a cold crypto winter. But we keep on building!

This winter will be cold and winter has already arrived. Ethereum Merge updates also provided near the end for our crypto listeners. Learn how to make good, but hard decisions as leaders and survive this bear market. It's not all gloom and doom. David has a message for his scammers cloning his Instagram accounts (2:07). David gives us some tips on how to avoid being scammed (3:09). Question everything and be skeptical. Especially when it comes to crypto and decentralized finance (7:40). Crypto is still very much a "risk-on asset." Similar to other tech companies. They're all feeling the pinch. (9:43). Interest rates near 0% means people were very risk-adverse (10:43). Money is not free. Money printing doesn't make people richer (13:51). People are feeling the pinch. David puts into perspective what interest rates going up means for you, especially as a homeowner (15:03). 1 in 4 homeowners may be forced to sell if interest rates keep going up (17:43).     NYP-18: Bitcoin for Newcomers Q&A and a new all time high for BTC!

    Our hosts David and Phil Ngo take Episode 18 to help some newcomers to Bitcoin. This episode is to help give newcomers some basic practical concepts to Bitcoin so they can participate in purchasing and securely storing it. Bitcoin hit its new all time high surpassing $66k (0:59)! Information about this episode and why it's catered towards newcomers. Feel free to skip if irrelevant to you (1:49). What is Bitcoin (3:41)? Can Bitcoin be hacked (5:17)? Correction Disclaimer: Phil meant to say that there are MORE private key combinations than grains of sand on the Earth, making it mathematically inefficient to crack Bitcoin's cryptographic algorithm (6:31).  Phil explains that Bitcoin itself has had issues in the past, but critical bugs have always been resolved and stands the test of time as being very secure (8:36). Is it mainstream yet? Who is buying it (9:30)? Phil thinks a lot of institutional money is flowing in now. The ProShares Bitcoin Futures ETF just launched (12:15). It's important to understand WHAT you're buying and WHERE + HOW you're buying it (13:25). We are implementing old traditional finance instruments and its problems into new tech which is supposed to get rid of those problems (15:05). How do I buy/sell Bitcoin (17:00)? Where you buy Bitcoin from is important. Are you actually buying it from a place that allows you to withdraw the actual asset and not a derivative of it (17:41)? Cryptocurrency focused exchanges like Kraken (19:23). Be very careful about leaving cryptocurrency on an exchange or with some other third-party (20:15). "Not your keys, not your coins." If you don't own the keys to where your coins are located, it's not yours (21:17). Shakepay allows you to buy Bitcoin and withdraw the asset to your own digital wallet (22:36) How do I store/keep my crypto safe (23:27)?  Phil explains briefly about hardware wallets like Ledger and Trezor (24:03). Phil explains digital wallets on phone apps like Exodus (25:20). Why your 12 word recovery phrase is SUPER IMPORTANT.  (25:40). NOBODY will ask you for your recovery phrase. Never give this out to anyone. Be very careful about phishing attempts. Whether that is a fake clone of an app or "customer support" looking to help you return your crypto (28:07).  When should I buy/sell crypto (29:30)? Phil talks about the 200 week moving average metric (33:15). We all love data (35:00). We compare $20,000 BTC as the high of 2017 and compare it to $66,000 four years later (35:20).     NYP-17: Crypto Update, Regulations and the Ethereum Merge

It is much more severe this time around though (3:51). Opportunities for China have now moved elsewhere, like miners (6:15). Blockchain can be used for good, but also for bad. It's the best surveillance & control tool on one end, but the most public transparent ledger for accountability (7:31). People will always get what they want. Laws are only a barrier, but people are good at finding their way around things (9:40). Government regulation is coming. An opportunity for the US to get it right. The SEC Chairman Gary Gensler is not planning to ban crypto (10:54). Senator Elizabeth Warren has always been ignorant from the start about crypto (13:13). Are regulations made to economically discriminate against poorer people or does it actually protect them? (15:58). Accredited investor requirements in Canada and investing in startups (18:25). Crypto has created millionaires and is arguably, the best wealth redistributor in modern history because anyone with the educational foresight had the opportunity participate freely, rather than being discriminated against based on their socioeconomic status (21:03).     NYP-16: Travel, Inflation and Appreciation. We're back from hiatus!

    Our hosts David and Phil Ngo take Episode 16 to "Phil" you in on our summer hiatus,  David tells us about his summer adventure out in Western Canada (1:34). David tells us about the road trip which involved trading off beautiful scenery with puking (3:16). Phil tries to sell everyone on visiting Western Canada (5:03). Phil took a break from entrepreneurship to go back to being an employee (5:40). David and Phil discuss the remote working life and why companies need to adapt to fit this (8:39). They speak to how these companies benefit the world economy by providing opportunities to people around the world who may not have a stable financial system to work with (10:25). David discusses what it's like to network in a post-covid era (13:06).  A lot of people reached out to David asking how to invest in an era of near 0% interest rates (13:50). Real estate comes to mind (15:45). Phil re-iterates how money works and why real estate prices keep going up (18:13). The big issue is also wage stagnation, COVID, and supply chain issues stemming from the pandemic (20:17).     NYP-15: Let’s F*cking Go Challenge - Focus, consistency, commitment and discipline with Jonathan Epstein.

    Our hosts David and Phil Ngo take Episode 15 to interview Jonathan Epstein, founder of the Let's F*****g Go mentality.  Jonny explains why destructive habits like creating excuses for yourself or taking shortcuts in life create a life of unhappiness (2:15).  Happiness really begins with taking care of yourself (4:13).  Jonny explains how he realized from a business conference that he was poisoning his body with alcohol and bad food. He required a detox and a change in his lifestyle habits to start caring for himself and his health. “I’m doing this for myself, I need to fix myself.” (5:00).  He started to realize the positive change his habits had on his health before it became a larger issue. Jonny explains how setting timelines and goals for yourself is how you achieve it (9:40).  "You have to be your own cheerleader." If you don’t appreciate yourself, you’re depending on other people giving you attention for what you’re doing and that will eventually fade (13:00). Jonny then explains how the pandemic had originally concerned him and his ability to stay focused while maintain his achievements (13:42). Despite the pandemic, he focused on how to keep this routine going (15:55). Jonny explains what is missing as part of the process was consistently having goals. It is just as important to level up your life, not just staying complacent once you achieve previous milestones (17:55). Jonny explains how to compete against yourself. His running journey began and helped develop this LFG Mentality we know today (19:20). Jonny realizes evolution in how he views and deals with problems. He learned to incorporate tools to deal with emotions and pressures of his personal life (21:03). Jonny learned what it’s like to learn how to be upset without having it affect other parts of his life. Keep moving forward. Progress over perfection (24:00). Jonny shares the story of how David got involved with running and achieving the LFG mentality by understanding that glass ceilings he set for himself was the problem. Your mind is what’s stopping you (27:05). Eventually, it got to a point where Jonny was excited to see other people achieving their goals (32:50). Jonny explains how the extended lockdowns created an opportunity to help others get through their own pandemic ruts (33:21). How did the running group got start? It lead to a group of people becoming inspired to achieve goals and competing against yourself (36:25). The LFG mentality and how it came to be today (40:06). David was originally hesitant about joining the group. All it took was understanding (40:46).  How the structure of LFG got to what it is today. Now we’re on to Challenge 5 which brings the community to the next level (42:22). Jonny explains the community guidelines. Why it’s important to define your own goals and put yourself out of your comfort zone (43:02). "It’s better to try and fail than to never try at all." The lack of accomplishment is what puts people in the rut. You need to get yourself out of it. It’s up to you to figure out how to get back up (44:42).     NYP-14: What is Dogecoin? Is it going to the moon?

    Our hosts David and Phil Ngo take Episode 14 to explain Dogecoin as it gains 500% in value within the last 7 days. Elon Musk keeps talking about it, retail traders keep mentioning it. We felt this episode would be good to give you a basic background on what it is and two very different perspectives on it. Phil explains how it technically came about as a "fork" of other blockchains (3:12). David gives a historical perspective on Dogecoin, its pricing and usage (3:48). David gives us some parameters of how the Dogecoin protocol operates and its coin inflation (6:47). Phil explains how Dogecoin's protocol operation doesn't fit the "scarcity" property of what sound money should be (7:58). Phil describes how this Dogecoin bull run is very similar to the momentum of retail "social media" traders and what happened to Gamestop (11:10). David explains the concept of a "pump and dump" which has a lot of similarities to what is happening with the DOGE price (12:45). David explains his reasoning as to why momentum trading has its merits to make money (15:54). Phil explains a common flaw of investors looking at absolute price numbers without taking into account other factors (17:38).
