FTS: Friends Talking Shop

Dave and Josh and Omar

Looking for a comedy podcast with funny stories, sharp banter, and strong opinions about things that absolutely do not deserve them? Welcome to FTS: Friends Talking Shop, where Dave, Josh, and Omar turn everyday annoyances into a full-contact conversation. Three longtime friends. Three very different perspectives. An alarming amount of confidence. Together, they debate life's petty problems with the urgency of people who have been personally victimized by small talk, bad manners, and thermostat settings. Expect unscripted comedy, awkward moments, pet peeves, pop culture, dating disasters, and relatable stories that make you think. The topics may be insignificant. The arguments rarely are. From questionable social etiquette to ridiculous personal encounters, FTS finds the funny in the things you notice every day but usually save for the group chat. Low stakes. Unreasonably loud takes. MEET YOUR QUESTIONABLE COMPANY Dave | The Conventional One A Wisconsin native living in St. Louis, Dave is a lifelong Packers fan who fears flying despite having a job that regularly puts him on airplanes. His wife frequently emails the show, which means his opinions occasionally come with a rebuttal from someone who knows where he lives. Josh | The Irreverent One Reporting from Philadelphia, Josh can find something irritating in almost any situation. He shares medical experiences with the enthusiasm most people reserve for vacation photos. Colonoscopy details? Unfortunately, yes. A story about shingles? Also yes. His filter appears to be permanently out of stock. Omar | The Wild Card Based in San Juan by way of Baltimore, Omar is the single member of the trio, an ice-cream-for-dinner enthusiast, and a man deeply committed to his hair. His personal adventures supply plenty of material, and his friends are generously committed to making sure none of it goes unexamined. Together, they're the friends you want at your table and probably shouldn't put on speakerphone at work. WHY LISTEN? Because everyday life supplies enough absurdity without anyone writing a script. FTS turns the petty, uncomfortable, and oddly familiar into funny conversations fueled by friendship and a willingness to call each other out. Listener emails join the mix, so the guys aren't the only ones with grievances. Have an opinion? Excellent. They've already got three, and apparently that's not enough. Named Podcast of the Year 2025 and Best Comedy Podcast by Discover Pods, FTS now has actual awards to justify this behavior. We can only apologize to their families. Start with a full episode or sample the Best of FTS collection. Whether you're commuting, walking, or avoiding a task you swore you'd finish, there's a seat for you in this argument. Follow the show, share it with your funniest friend, and leave a review. Preferably before the guys say something that makes you withdraw your endorsement. Before unpacking his bizarre parenting decisions, Josh breaks down his friend's daily diet regimen—prescribed by a questionable "fat coach" while taking Wegovy—and why he seems to be beating the weight-loss drug altogether. Is This The Dumbest Song Ever? | BEST of FTS

Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Would you actually want to live in a world where every single road has the exact same name? Josh, Omar, and Dave break down country music, bad lyricism, and whether modern songs are deep poetry or absolute nonsense after Josh shares his hilarious deep-dive into a song he heard on a late-night drive. Before dissecting the lyrics, Josh explains how a late-night road trip with his wife forced him to listen to country radio, leading him down a rabbit hole of absurd wishes and literal interpretations. Omar attempts to defend the poetic genius and cultural references behind the song, while Dave questions the sheer logistics of living in a world ruled by country music cliches. The debate moves from literal-minded critiques of song lyrics to a larger conversation about the music industry, corporate farming, and how radio channels curate what people listen to. Josh remains utterly unconvinced, picking apart every stanza while Omar holds the line for the art of songwriting. From ridiculous country lyrics and road logistics to corporate farms, nostalgia, and radio trends, Episode 53 delivers exactly what Friends Talking Shop does best: wildly different opinions about situations nobody expected to debate. Got something to say to this podcast? Send a voicemail, and you might hear yourself on the next episode! Can a trivia game prove whether Josh and Omar actually know anything? Dave, Josh, and Omar celebrate reaching Episode 110 by debuting a brand-new game show segment before diving into an unbelievable real-world headline that turns into an unexpected philosophical debate. Before tackling the heavy stuff, the guys debate whether they’ll ever make it to Episode 1,000, propose bizarre new episode-numbering systems, and review the recent World Cup. Josh airs his intense frustration with FIFA’s stoppage time rules and penalty-shootout finishes, while Omar defends the flow of European football. Omar also checks in from his trip to Atlanta and his post-meal walk encounter, leading to a hilarious breakdown of couples massages, hand-holding, and meeting your family member's doctor in public. Meanwhile, Dave shares his experience going to a baseball game alone and questions society’s obsession with scoreboard cap games and t-shirt cannons. Josh then shares a shocking news story from Argentina about a flight instructor who jumped out of a plane mid-flight without a parachute, leaving a 22-year-old student to land the plane herself. The guys weigh the pure selfishness of the act against an absurd Star Wars theory—was it a devastating trauma or a tragic Obi-Wan Kenobi moment designed to give her ultimate flying confidence? Omar wraps up the topics by revealing he was recently crowned the "King of Small Talk" and "King of Backhanded Compliments". The trio breaks down their own small talk skills, hotel check-in strategies, whether sending free pizzas to hotel staff actually works, and how Josh once ended up having an aggressive mid-game debate while sitting next to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
