Rather than following a traditional historical timeline, this story unfolds through the lens of memory, love, exile, and storytelling. Set in a refugee camp near Beirut, the novel follows Yūnis, an ageing Palestinian fighter lying in a coma, and Dr Khalīl, who sits beside him and tells stories in the hope of bringing him back to life.
