Omnipod® 5's 100 mg/dL Target Glucose setting and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor integration

Omnipod 5 is now even stronger with enhancements designed for more time in range1 and more time in Automated Mode. In this episode, we break down what they are and what they look like in practice. Hosts Dena Gottesman MS, RD, CDCES and Nancy Hanna RN, BSN, CDE are joined by Dr. Nader Kassam, a pediatric endocrinologist at Corewell Health living with type 1 diabetes, to explore the latest updates coming to Omnipod 5. Dr. Kassam shares his firsthand experience as a participant of the Limited Market Release of this product.  He shares how the new 100 mg/dL Target Glucose setting increases the algorithm’s response to rising glucose levels to help him spend more time in range1  and how these enhancements can help keep users in Automated Mode longer. The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor integration results in more personalized care and more real-time glucose monitoring data for caregivers with the LibreLinkUp app.  1. In a simulated analysis, the 100 mg/dL Target Glucose (TG) setting demonstrated superior Time in Range (70-180 mg/dL) compared with results at the 110-150 mg/dL TG settings in a real-world population of people with T1D using Omnipod 5. Differences in mean TIR for 100mg/dL vs 110mg/dL, vs 120 mg/dL, vs 130 mg/dL, vs 140 mg/dL, vs 150 mg/dL, were 2.5%, 4.8%, 9.8%, 15.3%, and 20.8%, respectively. For each comparison, the lower bound of the one-sided 95% Confidence Interval (CI) was >0%, meeting the pre-specified superiority criterion. Analysis not controlled for ISF, ICR, % time in Automated Mode and number of bolus/day. Data on File. RF-012026-00057. 2:33 – More TIR with the 100mg/dL Target Glucose setting1 6:04 – How adjustable Target Glucose settings support confidence in day-to-day diabetes management 10:30 – Algorithm improvements designed for more time in Automated Mode      14:41 – Sensor choice and how some Libre 3 Plus sensor choice can help families simplify care   1. Mental Health, Automation, and Human-Centered Design: Rethinking Diabetes Care with AID Systems

Mental health, cognitive burden, and quality of life are becoming central to how we define success in diabetes care. In this episode, we explore what that shift looks like in practice. Hosts Dena Gottesman MS, RD, CDCES and Nancy Hanna RN, BSN, CDE hand over to guest host Kamil Armacki , also known as Nerdabetic, who is joined by Dr. Korey Hood, Clinical Psychologist and Professor at Stanford University, and Jen Boyd, Senior Director of Medical Affairs at Insulet. Together, they unpack the often overlooked mental and cognitive load of living with diabetes, from constant decision making and planning to sleep disruption and diabetes distress. Dr Hood shares both his clinical expertise and personal perspective as someone living with type 1 (t1d) diabetes, highlighting why these challenges are just as important as glycemic outcomes. The conversation explores how advancements in automated insulin delivery (AID) and human-centered design are helping reduce that burden. Jen Boyd discusses how simplicity, usability, and patient feedback shape the development of technologies like Omnipod 5, with a focus on removing friction from everyday diabetes management. It is a powerful reminder that diabetes care is not just about time in range, but about creating more time for living.• 03:03– Mental & cognitive burden of diabetes• 07:26 – Usability and outcomes are inseparable• 10:18 – Automated insulin delivery reduces burden and restores freedom• 18:20 – Shift from numbers to lived experience How do medical devices like Omnipod 5 improve the lives of people living with diabetes?
